Apple Core Thrown Over Fence Puts White House on Lockdown

An apple core thrown over a White House fence prompted security officials to clear a portion of Pennsylvania Avenue, the Secret Service said.

Parts of the avenue in front of the White House were cleared after the incident shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The White House was briefly placed into lockdown, which is standard practice any time there is a security concern. The lockdown was lifted after about five minutes.

U.S. cities have stepped up security in the wake of last week's terror attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, for which the terror group ISIS has claimed responsibility.

The Secret Service said the woman who threw the apple core over the fence from E Street was taken in for questioning but will not be arrested or charged.

Good to know something as menial as an apple core is enough to basically make the US government shit themselves at this point.

If anything this goes to prove that the terror attacks is france had an intended effect making the Americans so sheepish.

Personally I find this hilarious.. It's 2015 for fuck sakes. You figure they'd have enough technology to be able to distinguish an bomb from an apple core in this day and age right? Obviously not it seems...

For the worlds leading military superpower the US government is sure affraid of its own shadow.. And apple cores for that matter seemingly.

Just how many shotguns has Vice President Joe Biden sold since being named to lead the White House’s task force on gun violence? During a Google+ “fireside chat” in January, Biden advised a questioner to buy a shotgun and some shells to keep people away following a natural disaster like an earthquake, where shifting tectonic plates would make an AR-15 too difficult to aim.

As if to prove he wasn’t just drunk, Biden repeated the advice during a Facebook chat, telling a woman a shotgun would be easier to aim, but never mind aiming: two blasts into the air would deter any intruder. Still not convinced you need a shotgun? Biden sat down with Field and Stream’s Anthony Licata to talk firearms and repeated his claim from the Google+ chat. “Well, you know, my shotgun will do better for you than your AR-15, because you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door,” Biden recounted.

Good advice, right?

The White House was on lockdown for a while Thursday after a man wearing an American flag jumped its newly upgraded fence while President Barack Obama and his family were inside the residence for the holiday, authorities said.

The man, identified as Joseph Caputo, was apprehended about 2:45 p.m. ET on the North Lawn of the White House grounds — the "front door" side along Pennsylvania Avenue, said Robert Hoback, a spokesman for the Secret Service. Police said Caputo was carrying a manila folder, NBC Washington reported.
