Just thought I'd update everyone on the fallout from exposing NewsBTC: http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/there-is-zero-evidence-that-9554-bitcoin-were-seized-from-isis-by-hacktivists . First, we got this contact submission above from the Internet Police (lol):

"We received complaints about content that is hosted on your website. We kindly ask to remove this personal content or we have to proceed with our investigation of case no 245863."

Well that's strange, we don't post personal content of others on this site who are private individuals or don't give us permission. But we did just post this article exposing NewsBTC and their editor-in-chief, whose name and picture are public along with freelance website profile that is public: http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/there-is-zero-evidence-that-9554-bitcoin-were-seized-from-isis-by-hacktivists . So, there's obviously no violation, and obviously IC3.gov is different from IC3gov.com. If you're going to pretend to be the internet police, at least use the right internet police domain!

So that's item #1. Item #2 is we were attacked -- more specifically, our servers were attacked. It was a really unsophisticated DDoS, but you can see below the damage:

We knew the site was doing well traffic-wise, but 4 million is a bit high! This resulted in hundreds of GB worth of data transfer. Luckily, our mitigation setup is so ironclad that it did not disrupt service for any users! So, to the public, this attack had little to no effect.

Rest assured we will not be silenced by such antics and all violations have been reported to the appropriate authorities. It's only a small dent for us. In fact this motivates us to find more bad actors in bitcoin out there. If you have any information about individuals, companies, or websites who are spreading misinformation or lies or anything, please contact us and we will look into it: http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/contact.html .
