i have 5 transactions in the status of conflicted despite paying the miner fee. any advice as to what i should do?

None of those transactions are on the network. Can you give us the raw hex of each transaction see we can check what is wrong with them? My guess as of now is that those transactions are mistakenly double spending another transaction.

are the transaction id's

There appears to be something wrong with the software that you are using to send the transactions.  What wallet or service are you using?

Is it fully synchronized?  I would have thought that Bitcoin Core wouldn't create conflicted transactions under normal circumstances if it was fully synchronized.

Have you exported or imported any private keys?

Have you recovered a backup of the wallet?

Have you imported the wallet.dat file into any other wallets?

Any of these situations could result in the wallet being unaware that it was creating conflicted transactions.

 am using an old wallet file that i got off a usb stick. but it seemed to work fine with other trans actions.
its fully synced
