Hi guys.
I am reflecting interesting question. But I do not have informations and also SSD.

I wanna know how fast is it to download and verify full blockchain under our standard client.
I know that it takes time in days to do so with normal disc. But how good is SSD?

So, what is your experience?

Under Windows 7 on a Crucial M4 I think it was well under 10 hours from start to finish, as opposed to a 7200RPM Disc where it can stretch up to 36 in my experience.

The main problem with downloading the blockchain is not so much just the speed of the disk but a combination of bandwidth, CPU and I/O (and using a slower CPU such as on a typical laptop it is this that is the bottleneck).

That being said of course an SSD should improve the I/O side significantly.

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

To reduce the load on your SSD (or any mechanical drive) you could use a ramdisk for the initial download since there will be tons of I/O.

Took about a day to download on my SSD.
Thought it'd take much longer.

Yea, ramdisk with torrent = win for the initial.

Until version 0.8 arrives (very fast!), you may use the Bitcoin blockchain torrent to speed the big first part of your download.

Edit: heh, pekv2 and I posted at the same time, it seems.
