Though bitcoin regulation remains a divisive topic globally, there's perhaps no country that has kept the international bitcoin community guessing about the digital currency's future more than Russia.

You can see here full thing : http://www.coindesk.com/russia-ban-bitcoin-not-blockchain/
I'm not sure what you guys think about this , but I know that this is going to be a big loss for Bitcoin (mostly on the price part probably ) .

Don't really see any reason why it would fall if Russia does ban it. Now if chin decides to ban it,then it will be best to start worrying.

I dont think such stance is surprise from country like Russia where the free speech is very limited. Thus the price change should not be much affected I guess.

Wasnt it Chinese in the past with the ban-unban-ban-unban stories ? I mean Bitcoin media stories.

Who cares. 110 individual families control 35% of all financial assets held by Russian households. The Russian people don't have any money. They can't help Bitcoin but Bitcoin could help them. Russian revolutions happen every few decades. Just wait until the next revolution and Bitcoin's status might change. Tsarist autocracy was replaced by the Bolsheviks, then the Petrograd Soviets, then Leftist Socialists, then the communists, then the Russian federation. The Russians have been shit on by every political leader they've ever had. It really doesn't matter what they think today because that will all change tomorrow.

question:
how do you say something without proof just to cause speculation
answer:
write a story that some government employee talked directly to you, so that there is no publicly available memo, announcement

coindesk pulled this same strategy exactly 1 month ago
http://www.coindesk.com/russian-minister-confirms-plans-to-ban-bitcoin-to-fiat-conversions/

"Speaking to CoinDesk, Alexey Moiseev said"

but when you actually look at the official financial reports, announcements and memo's.. all you can see is that BANKS are currenctly not legally allowed to buy bitcoin directly, this is because their regulations cannot insure them for holding assets as bitcoin.
but with that said, there is no news that says INDIVIDUALS can't buy bitcoin.

infact even Putin seems semi-positive by saying he cannot ignore the technology
"In general you can use these 'coins', they are spreading more and more. You can use them as the equivalent [of money] in certain segments of the economy. This is possible."
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/vladimir-putin-says-digital-currencies-like-bitcoin-have-use-certain-segments-economy-1510976

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Yeah, 'we don't mind the chicken - but no more eggs!!!'  Isn't it clear where chickens come from?

WTF?  I wonder with what Russia thinks we should pay the people who keep the blockchain alive?  Stupid fucking Russians.

It was supposed to be already banned by the first of January this year, with heavy fines for anyone caught holding Bitcoins. They've been arguing about a Bitcoin ban for over a year now. If their past performance is an indicator of their future performance they will still be arguing over banning Bitcoin this time next year.

This cryptocoinsnews story is from about a year ago, it was published in December 2014.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/russia-reconsidering-bitcoin-ban-2015/

Quote
The Russian Ministry of Finance earlier this year drafted a bill to ban Bitcoin and other "quasi-money" in 2015.

Quote
Does this mean Bitcoin is in the clear? Not exactly. The bill most likely will be revised, but it may just benefit Russian corporations, but still restrict Russians ability to use electronic currency. The ban may just work around gift cards and bonus cards and remain for digital currency.

how they going to ban coin

They can not ban Bitcoin completly, but they can punish anyone using Bitcoin there if caught. Plus merchant will not use Bitcoin there obviously if the law will really prohibit Bitcoin usage.

they obviously own coin so banning it would be quite dangerous if i traced an ip back to the kremlin

I think even if the governments try to "ban" or interdict the Bitcoin use it's not successful because everyone ca&n use the internet connection can indeed using Bitcoin through desktop or Mobile so it's like they play when they talk about "ban Bitcoin"

the government probably will blocking site that bitcoin related and will giving punishment to people who using bitcoin, but nothing to be worried if they have some vpn or rdp to play with bitcoin
The great firewall of china is not really working. People are way too smart and will find workarounds for these types of things. In the cold war era russian government banned usd as well, that created a black market for usd which led to the price of it raising. Same will happen with bitcoins. People become curious to why it's banned and will investigate. All in all they can't really arrest you for having a qr-code in your wallet.

He wanted to ban exchange/conversion of bitcoin into and out of Ruble, but then bitcoin can be used directly in trading without even touch the current financial system, an even worse nightmare for authorities, they will totally lose the trace of it
