I've seen the price go up before in response to news but this time I don't see any news that could cause the price to move up so much lately in the last week.

Anyone have any ideas?

In the past these run ups usually have a run down on the other side but the price ends up higher than it was at the start of the run up.

Do you think this will happen this time?

it was the same when we were between 230 and 280, exactly the same thing, but with a two instead of three as the first digit

there where no news and the price increased, news bring a very big pump, but this does not mean that we need news everytime we face an increase...

I personally think that November was simply a month full of market manipulations and still till now ... It went till nearly 500$ last time and now it's pumping once again without any apparent reason , the only explanation is that there is some manipulations by the big exchange (chinese most likely) .

I think people are slowly buying up coins to benefit from the block halving rally, that they think will come soon. That plus the good sentiment are probably the reason behind this uptrend.

I know Chinese exchanges have a lot fake volumes on high volume days, but right now it's beyond insane. Huobi's 24H volume is sitting at 1.4 million and OKCoin 800K, while Bitstamp is only having a 14K volume. It's pure madness. Bitfinex is the only decent exchange that is able to somewhat keep up with their 24H volume sitting at 95K.

The reason for the current rally is the same reason all previous rallies happened, and the same reason all future rallies will happen:

Increasing user adoption.

Stop trying to look for a more specific cause. Of course there may be a thousand and one different events that caused a rally to happen right now instead of last week or next week but there is no point in trying to identify them. A price rise is INEVITABLE as more and more people jump on the bandwagon.

If you can not find or see any particular reason why the price rises, then there is no reason!
It's the market doing it's thing!Buyers buy and sellers sell.Right now the buyers are the majortiy. Therefore the price goes up.Simple is that!

in my view the only reason is that big players are manuplating the bitcoin, and i have read some where that $300 -#350 was a resistance of trend if $300 was breaked we can see below $250 price and if it breaks upper $350 then we can see nearly $450 to $500 so i think upper trend is breaked so in coming week we can see a big rally.

Not just limited to $450, people here and there are talking Bitcoins reaching to $600 and occasionally $1000 too...
Let's hope to sell our coins at higher as we already know it's a pump going on and nothing else, as when there is no reason, the reason is "MANIPULATION" only... Wink

whales are just trying to play around a little. There's a tendency for bitcoin to stay around 310-330 so pushing up the price to 370-380 can create a hype for buyers to pump the price even more

That's my thought about this.  A rise in price without news suggests to me that someone is trying to push up the price and profit from that.

Don't think there's really an answer for this to happen right now.

But the value increasing is always a good thing.

I find it funny how every time that we have these price surges, all bunch of threads open ups with people asking why are we going up? Don't people expect that we will go up as time passes and we are making progress? I don't get it sometimes! Maybe we are just growing people?!

The lemming mentality perhaps where people see a big swing and pile on, adding momentum to the upswing. It makes for a steep and swift drop when the buying slows as people then begin panic selling for fear they bought into a bubble. The swings can vary in duration from a few days to weeks or months, but a momentum-pendulum on crack and fueled by speculators pretty accurately describes how bitcoin trades.

i still see plenty of 100k bitcoin among the top 100 rich list, and someone has even more than that

they could be some exchange but i believe there are still early adopters with more than 50k bitcoin
