I think they are out to screw as much money out of the market as possible by pumping and dumping. They don't care if it's going to the moon, or if it will die. They don't care if their pumps and dumps eventually kill it, they only want as much short term profit as they can screw out of the market by manipulating all the little fish.

I'm sure they will continue to buy back low if that's what you are wondering. No way do they want to kill it or leave the game. With the halving coming next year, little fish should just hold if they don't know what they are doing (e.g, me).

That's a plus one from me as well. The only thing that'll best them is sustained and widespread genuine demand, but as long as they're playing their games it's going to scare away the potential newcomers.

It would be stupid to manipulate the price in such a way that they would kill bitcoin. They probably have so much more to gain from manipulating, that the last thing they want is for the price to crash.

Agree on all but the crash part... There is definitely too much to gain to let it go to shit. They will, however, crash it over and over. How else will they gain more from buying low and scare enough people to sell to them? A $10 dump is nothing. A $100 series of dumps makes people uneasy and they scoop them up at the bottom.

If you're making a few grand or considerably more per move today I doubt you're too bothered about the outlook in a decade or so. I'll bet there's a few big time traders who only think of BTC as a few numbers on their exchange screen.

I they some are afraid of bitcoin and try to kill it. Some try to make a good pump and dump and earn some milllions.
Maybe they want to take over some company before the end of Q4

why they should kill it? unless these manipulators are government and bank i can't see the reason behind it, casual big traderrs, all care about profit
so they are clearly accumulating at every new step, and preparing to dump at whatever is their target

I don't buy it because the market is a mess at the moment. I'm sorry to say it but bitcoin is a safe heaven for speculators of all sorts and as someone else said what they all care about is profit. Bitcoin for them it is just another game to pump their wallets with shorts and stop-losses. To me this is the main problem here

Do you think stock markets out there are any different? Every market is getting manipulated. Just don't get fooled by the size of these markets. Bigger markets have bigger manipulators. It's all rigged.

Bigger markets have bigger manipulators. It's all rigged. There is no difference. Each market where you can make money, is being manipulated. Indeed as you say, the bigger the markets they play in, the bigger the manipulators are. In Bitcoin a decent whale has probably $2-$3 million in total assets, which I mean as Bitcoin and fiat. Wealthy stock market traders play with hundreds of millions of Dollars, if not more.

Of course they are trying to hoard the most coins possible! Now, the question is are they staying in Bitcoin or are they cashing out to Fiat their speculative profits. You should have put that into your poll.
I really don't see why would they try to kill something that gives them profits at the moment!

The thing is that in the stock markets there is, what I call "legalized robbery" while with BTC exchanges, as I already said, to me it seems like a total mess in which bagholders can play as they want. Not to forget that since margin ttrading started is even worse.

This is the most correct answer. Source: I know a whale who is doing exactly that.
