Hey everybody! It's TheGr33k! Boy, do I have an interesting new business stunt to share today. So, I have helped create four new businesses for the growth of Bitcoin currency. All from diverse backgrounds and lines of work to really branch out and make Bitcoin appeal to everyone. One of which (which is currently my favorite, and newest) is a new mathematics interests group for Bitcoin. This group is focused on reaching out to many young mathematicians all over the globe to help create a Bitcoin accumulating mathematic course in which you solve some of the greatest and most difficult math problems of the planet. Each one solved will have a Bitcoin accumulating grant. I am hoping this new idea will definitely have inner city schools become very focused on maintaining sharp math skills. Plus, they can earn some Bitcoin for their work! These mathematicians of any age will be one from each school all across the globe.

I'm very excited! Now, I have been coming up with ways to teach people about Bitcoin, while keeping education very interesting! I can't wait until this project is done!

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

if you are genuinely doing this, then you need to think about how to fund the prizes.

the best way is to speek to schools and universities and ask them to donate/sponsor a particular maths  problem.
imagine there are 10 math problems to solve and each of the 4000 universities put in $10 to each problem($100 sponsorship per university).
thats $40,000 prize per math problem.

ofcourse getting the universities involved in buying the bitcoin with $100 gets universities more involved with bitcoin and you then also have a contact to then spread your competition through (university staff passing on info to the students direct)

(OP please dont reply with negative personal comments like before)

Very good project. Congratulations. But I cannot understand the meaning of your post here in bitcointalk. You hope to find here such mathematicians, want to make know to everybody who read your post that you have such idea or it is part of your project to make as much as it would be possible such kind of announcements about it because this can help in the spread of word and can help in the realization of it.

Anyhow I think that from the idea to the make true of it, is between an entire sea. If you think that doing a post here in bitcointalk about what you will have in mind to realize will help it it's ok. But for me, a simple reader, the only thing that come to my mind is: What is the meaning of this post? What want from the readers of it the OP? Te read it and to think: How able is this boy/girl/man/women in think such interesting thing?

For what we must discuss here about it? There is not any data or something that can make me to give (or to have) something; or to discuss something. Don't need to much brain to understand that this kind of initiatives are fantastic ones if realized. But other things, or better, other words, that can be written about this post I cannot find. Maybe you need adoration for yourself from the others. But you must know that you can have that only when you realize something not when you have in mind to do something which is thought tens or hundreds times before you. To many similar or identical projects borne every day. And almost all die after few days or weks. So I invite you to make a post when you have made something real and not when you are excited about something that must be done and think that with this your excitement will excite everyone other who will know this your excitement.  Wink

Interesting.

Paul Erdős would have loved something like this.

And I agree that funding is the key.

And which math problems do you have in mind? Problems like the Millennium Problems? Are you focusing more on applied or pure mathematics?

as for the list of actual mathematical problems. maybe best while seeking sponsorship to ask the maths dpartments of universities if they have any suggestions..

im pretty sure they could come up with some brain pounding near impossible math problems

I would think he is talking about something like this: https://projecteuler.net/

But with Bitcoin prizes at the end of each problem.

The difficulty would be ensuring that it is a new person solving the problems and being rewarded otherwise someone just keeps solving the problems over and over getting the bitcoins. And it would likely go to math geeks who already know the math.

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

Indeed. I wouldn't mind paying a young mathematician in bitcoins to stay sharp in his or her skills. Math holds a dear place in my heart, and I would like it if everyone had a fair opportunity to earn and people who have already earned will not be able to earn again. With that in mind, my idea is still very much in beta. I am doing everything I can to make sure the group is fair, but as of now I have several other business ventures so it's just tedious to juggle all of them.

Great, hope you guys can solve the transaction speed problem.
We'll do our best.
If by 'transaction speed' you mean  confirmation time then I thought it is security parameter and it cannot be lowered without compromising bitcoin network.
Confirmation times could be lowered already but it means more power will be in hands of large centralized mining farms.

the only time you need to worry about someone winning the prize too often. is if the math is too simple.
so if you made sure the math is the near impossible to solve then universities would love to sponsor anyone who solves it.. after all they would see it as a nice cheap way of head hunting 'talent scouting' geniuses..

so if one kid solved 2 near impossible math problems.. i think he deserves both prizes as the odds of it happening are very remote.

so worry less on just making random easy to solve math problems as you will suddenly have thousands of people solving the same problem and then have the headache of choosing the ultimate winner out of a pool of thousands(causing alot of drama and discouragement for those that didnt win, even if they had the solution).. instead stick to near impossible math problems and then you'll have less of a headache and also be able to generate some nice sponsorship funds to use as a prize.

after all no university would pay anything for solving 1+1...

think more "good will hunting" rather than a 'spelling bee'.

you could however as a subsiduary/extra service. have more of a easier 'spelling bee' idea as a faucet esq service. offering 0.00000100 per solution. that way it keeps the math geeks busy playing on your website when bored and keeping the attention and repeat viewing going..
thus avoiding many people just looking at your site once and forgetting about it telling friends its not worth it due to complexity.

Both. We are also hoping that somewhere along the way, we team up with as many intelligent minds as possible to create brand new technological concepts in mathematics to help re-innovate Bitcoin to the point that new ways of making Bitcoin transactions will be established.

I would hope that wouldn't exactly help the black market specifically.

This seems like a very cool and interesting project. I think it is great that you are starting to incorporate children into Bitcoin, they need to start learning about the currency of the future and this is a great way to do it. Hope this works, also, when are you starting it?

I don't think that you have to worry about someone winning the prize too often. If they win it multiple times, it means that they deserve it, it means that they are smart enough to keep solving them. Also, you could just make the questions harder and harder for that 1 person.

It's a nice project actually, however you will encounter some problems of your own like how are you going to give the prize, problems on tx speed and whatnot (as already stated by posters above me.) Btw, if possible, can you at least give one example of problem that you might be giving your prospective members? That is if possible.

Wishing you the best on this project.

That's what I was thinking of by the time I got to the second post of this thread (yet to read further than quoted above).

I envision: Khan Academy + Faucet + Ads (that the player/learner would be most interested in) = Profit [for all].

Math and Bitcoin is like bread and butter, it has to go together... So this project, if properly funded... would go a long way. If I may ask.... how are you going to fund this project?

I think the developing countries needs this more than the wizz kids in the developed countries. How about you extending this to a math challenge for people from developing

countries too? It would make a massive difference... Do not give them fish, rather teach them how to fish... right?

the OP always is a bit vague about his projects.. its like he throws them at a wall like spaghetti to see which one sticks.. but seeing as it will be a website and anyone in the world can set up a bitcoin address for free.. there would be no limitations on which country uses it after all the prizes would be bitcoins not dollars. Cheesy

Hey everyone. I have multiple projects, multiple jobs that I'm doing and helping with but to be completely honest, these projects are not ran by me. You people might think I am the one that comes up with these ideas, but I'm not. I think I said I created them in the OP, but what I meant to say was that I helped create them. All I am is the coder to their upcoming websites. Nothing more. I don't really consider myself as nothing important so I like to think of myself as a person that's vital to their work, but I do feel as though what happens with these projects or what directions they take honestly depends on the founders for them. I have no stern say in what happens. I am not a founder to any of the four businesses I work with. If you guys want to ask the actual founders some questions, they will actually be present here soon before their own websites are launched.

Also, I really don't understand who keeps moving my thread to project development, but it can be in either project development or Bitcoin discussion so whoever is moving my topics to a forum that isn't really 100% occupied, stop and leave my thread in this forum, please.

Or how about you stop moving it into the incorrect sub just because it's more popular? That's not how things work around here.
