Parliament backs plan to provide support staff and reconnaissance jets, but Germans will not actively engage in combat Germany’s parliament has thrown its weight behind the European campaign against Islamic State, voting with a solid majority in favour of deploying military personnel to Syria in a non-combat role. In a heated debate that preceded the vote, members of the Left party argued that the mission was lacking in concept and was taking place too hastily after the terror attacks on Paris three weeks ago. The majority of the 445 MPs who voted in favour came from the chancellor Angela Merkel’s grand coalition of conservatives and social democrats (SPD). The cabinet approved the deployment on Tuesday. German forces will not cooperate with troops under the command of Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, and their role will be strictly non-combative. Germany will send 1,200 personnel, six Tornado reconnaissance jets and the frigate Augsburg, to protect the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle in the Mediterranean. It will also provide refuelling aircraft capable of operating in mid-air, enabling longer offensives to take place. The deployment will be Germany’s largest anywhere in the world and the most dangerous since the government of Gerhard Schröder sent troops to Afghanistan in 2001. Reconnaissance planes are expected to be sent to Turkey within the next week. The reconnaissance missions are due to start in January. Public approval of military intervention is high for a nation that is famous for its post-second world war reluctance to deploy troops and that prides itself on its pacifist stance. Analysts say opinion has been influenced by the way in which Germans have felt the direct impact of the conflict through the large number of Syrian refugees who have arrived since the crisis began. About 58% of Germans are in favour of military intervention in Syria, and 34% support direct participation in airstrikes. But a majority say they believe the mission will increase the risk of Germany being a target for terrorists. Out of 598 MPs, 146 voted against the mission and seven abstained. The mandate runs until the end of 2016, when parliament will have to vote again to renew it. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/dec/04/germany-joins-anti-isis-military-campaign

Awesome. So now just let them all together make coalition, send ground troops and do the job. If infantry and armor dont go there and solve problem, those goatfuckers will feel like heroes. I mean, gang of goatfuckers is fighting against whole world, have their country and do what they want around globe.

Germany is doing the right thing.
It should help in any way it can. A lot of Germans are very wary to export its military globally like USA. Given German history it is understandable why they are hesitant. Germany can provide support to its allies in a non combat role, maybe refueling food supplies etc. This way it will not be targeted for attacks. It is hopefully trying to help the war against ISIS.

There´s a little problem with that. Those goatfuckers or most of them are located in the territory of Iraq and the people of that country are for obvious reasons not very excited about being invaded. Their very sensible conclusion is that the forces that created the mess to begin are extremely unlikely to fix it now, in fact 100% likely to make it even worse. Given their utterly dysfunctional record - I guess. In fact the prime minister just stated that incursions by foreign troops would be considered hostile acts and probably dealt with accordingly.

I don´t know; maybe if the screwballs that created all this chaos tried something new, something that they´ve never given the slightest thought before
like asking for permission before entering countries with their armed forces. And maybe if they had something that resembles a freakin plan (another novelty for these people) perhaps something could be worked out.

This situation is not good, I mean the actually enemy is ISIS, and one by one different countries involves in it. If all the countries on same page then it is good that Germany, United Kingdom, USA, Russia and Arab countries are strike collectively on common enemy. But here is the situation is that the world is clearly divided in two domains. Russia, China and Iran is one side, Turkey, USA, and NATO countries are other side. This is not good because plan of action is definitely different between these two blocks. It is combine responsibility of all the countries, show maturity upon this sensitive issue and resolve the conflicts between them firsts. Otherwise, we cannot fight against ISIS with this ego.

This is World War in the making. Russia is pro-Assad and anti-FSA. USA is pro-FSA and anti-Assad, and now Germany wants a piece. ISIS was never the issue, it was always the bait. The issue is the West's desire to dethrone Assad and consolidate the Levant into a Western controlled confederation (unity via puppetry).
We will see that the West is prepared to escalate this proxy war into WW3 before letting Assad go.

Obama is at it again. The Oak Tree in his own eye is never a problem...He´s been bombing the terriers for over a year with about zero results, well except of course booming business for bomb manufacturers. The U.S. Air Force are scrambling to buy bombs around the world now. “The Russians now have been there for several weeks, over a month, and I think fair-minded reporters who have looked at the situation would say that the situation hasn’t changed significantly." -- Obomber

Hahahahahahaha, this is like right out of some comedy show..... ------------------------------------------- The US Air Force has burned through more than 20,000 bombs and missiles in its air campaign against Daesh, also known as ISIL/The Islamic State, and is looking around the world for more weapons and the money to buy them. The ongoing air campaign targeting Daesh fighters and equipment began in August 2014 in Iraq and spread to Syria a month later. "We're in the business of killing terrorists and business is good," Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James said in statement. "We need to replenish our munitions stock. Weapons take years to produce from the day the contract is assigned until they roll off the production line." The Air Force carries out most of the bombing runs using a variety of warplanes, from single-prop Predator drones to huge B-1 bombers, USA Today reported. "We're expending munitions faster than we can replenish them. B-1s have dropped bombs in record numbers. F-15Es are in the fight because they are able to employ a wide range of weapons and do so with great flexibility," said Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh in a statement. "We need the funding in place to ensure we're prepared for the long fight. This is a critical need." The Pentagon has ramped up its air attack on Daesh since the summer. In July and August, half of the warplanes returned to base without dropping weapons, Army Colonel Steve Warren, the military's spokesman in Baghdad, said this week. That figure rose to 60% by October and 65% by November, USA Today reported. "We're attacking ISIL on numerous fronts," Warren said. "We've attacked their fighters in Syria and Iraq, we're hitting their ability to finance their illegal and despicable operations." The bombing runs have depleted domestic depots, said Lieutenant Colonel Chris Karns, an Air Force spokesman. The Army has also shared some of its Hellfire missiles, the primary weapon on drones. In fiscal year 2015, Congress approved spending an additional $400 million for 4,000 Hellfire missiles, he said. The shortage is at least in part self-inflicted, said Loren Thompson, a defense industry consultant and military analyst at the Lexington Institute. "Congress has capped defense spending since 2012, and one place the Pentagon has tried to save money is on ammo and missiles," Thompson told USA Today. "The US air war against ISIL isn't intense, so if missile supplies are getting low that indicates not enough were bought. There is always a temptation to skimp on purchases of ammunition and missiles in peacetime, but that can leave the military under-equipped when threats arise." http://sputniknews.com/middleeast/20151204/1031273667/air-force-stockpiles-low-isil.html

i comletely agree with this user. Germany must firstly stop helping terrorists like PeKaKa who kills teachers, doctors, nurses, soldiers, infants, mothers, fathers, soldiers, polices most of which are also Kurds in order to say she is fighting against terrorısm.

I'm no fan of the PKK, but I'm a big fan of killing the genocidal turkish occupiers of Constantinople. So I guess I like some of the PKK's work. I'm not sure what Germany owes turkey. The EU would be stupid to let turkey join. But the EU is fucking stupid, so it probably will. Especially now that Germany is an islamic state. The Germans have to sweep the path clean for their islamic state rulers to come in and feel welcome.

Any news of the German campaign? The British bombings were in the news for what three days and haven´t been heard of much since. Doesn´t seem that this has much of a purpose apart from fooling the public.

Turks belong to Mongolia, and not to Europe. Trust me. Turkey will never be given the European Union membership, so stop dreaming about it. And I am glad that Turkish soldiers are getting killed in the Kurdish regions. That means that the ordinary Kurds are fighting back against the genocide perpetrators. Both Germany and Russia should help the PKK to establish an independent Kurdistan.
