Idea: For real life shops (eg resturants, bars), we pay a bit more with bitcoin (eg 2% more). This is to encourage businesses to adopt bitcoin as a payment method.

might as well announce bitcoin is dead for retail use then. people do not consider bitcoin a charity situation from what i see.
the point of it is to get lower prices like cash can often get compared to visa, american express, etc...

WOW this dude is dumb, and obviously has no retail experience, if you just say you get no fees, that should start conversation with any retail store. The problem with bitcoins is getting people to acknowledge the easier ways of acquiring and using bitcoins.

I wouldn't say dumb. I know where he is coming from. If users here decided they wanted more retail places
to accept bitcoin and told retailers we will pay 3% more for you to do it... you might get some bites.

It just seems like this community is frugal with money, does not see bitcoin as a charity case where we should
pay for it to succeed, and want retailers to figure it out themselves via bitcoin propaganda. Anything else is
subsidizing success and bound to collapse once the program ends. Retailers will see it as a pain since they are
not getting paid to use it and since it will not become the main form of payment anytime soon.

Just give it time, Bitcoin is a good idea, it just needs to have certain conditions met like a massive devaluation of world reserve currencies for people to rush to adopt it, some of you guys are being seriously impatient.

Great quote. Personally, I'm dreading the day that I get caught with my pants down and the price shoots up before I buy enough of them. I hope it's not for a couple of years.
