Pollution is the method of making land, water, air or other parts of the environment dirty and dangerous or unsuitable to use. This can be done through the introduction of a pollutant into a natural environment, but the pollutant doesn't need to be tangible. Things as simple as light, sound and temperature can be measured pollutants when introduced artificially into an environment.
Air pollution The air we breathe has a very exact chemical composition; 99 percent of it is made up of nitrogen, oxygen, water vapor and inert gases. Air pollution occurs when things that aren’t normally there are added to the air. A common type of air pollution happens when people release particles into the air from burning fuels.
Land pollution Land can become polluted by household garbage and by industrial waste. In 2010, Americans produced about 250 million tons (226.8 million kilograms) of garbage, consisting of product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint and batteries. That's about 4.3 pounds (1.95 kg) of waste per person per day.
Water pollution Water pollution happens when chemicals or hazardous foreign substances are introduced to water, including chemicals, sewage, pesticides and fertilizers from agricultural runoff, or metals like lead or mercury. According to the EPA, 44 percent of assessed stream miles, 64 percent of lakes and 30 percent of bay and estuarine areas are not clean enough for fishing and swimming.

I mean this is horrible, Americans generate 30 billion foam cups, 220 million tires, and 1.8 billion disposable diapers every year.
You know, 56 percent of the trash in the United States is put in landfills. Half of landfill space consists of paper. Just 1 ton Recycling (907.18 kg) of paper can save 3 cubic feet (0.08 cubic meter) of space.
According to WHO, ambient air pollution contributes to 6.7 percent of all deaths worldwide.
Pollution in China can change weather patterns in the United States. Takes just five days for the jet stream to carry heavy air pollution from China to the United States, where it stops clouds from producing rain and snow.

It's not possible for us people to control pollution the way you want it controlled. The governments will have to stop spraying chemicals in the air.
They could actually plant fruit trees in the parks, allow food after the "use by" dates to be given to the hungry, etc so people could have free food.
If we all actually farmed our own food, from plant to the table, we wouldn't have to use all the plastic packaging and creating more waste. At some point we'll be able to get back to basics, but things will get worse before they get better.

it really does not matter whether you believe in global warming or not, the fact of the matter is that the world population is heading for 9 billion by 2050, never ever seen before, and cities are growing and good agricultural land is becoming scarcer. So just use your intelligence and trust that we have the engineers and agronomists who will have the resources to ensure that we live sustainably. If not there will be wars and who will protect YOU ?

There are negotiations going on between various countries in Paris right now, at the Climate Summit. At the least, I hope there is agreement on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

There's no such thing as over population. Are you seriously worried?

@MMH, we all should be serious on this, sir. For our coming generations, according to "theguradian", Both developed and developing countries will be hit, and by 2050, there could be 3.6 million premature deaths a year from exposure to particulate matter, most of them in China and India. But rich countries will suffer worse effects from exposure to ground-level ozone, because of their ageing populations – older people are more susceptible. If current policies are allowed to carry on, the world will far exceed the levels of greenhouse gas emissions that scientists say are safe, the report found. "I call it the surrender scenario – where we would be if governments do nothing more than what they have pledged already?" said Simon Upton, environment director at the OECD. "But it could be even worse than that, we've found."
Just assumed, you can not breath without muff? i think if situation not considered by most genreated pollution countries, it might be more and more worst.

Yes. It is possible to control polution. Here is how we do it. We get rid of all technology, and move back to the land or woods. We live like the Amish peoples, or maybe the cave men. That's how.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONTROL POLLUTION??? Control the population first. Once this is done, then the pollution will automatically come down. Read yesterday in an online news portal that the pollution levels in New Delhi (the capital of India) is currently almost 40 times more than the permissible limit set by the World Health Organization (WHO). It is no coincidence that India is the country which contributes the most to the global population growth (in absolute numbers).

I am absolutely serious and not a sir. The mainstream media is pushing out this idea of over population to keep people afraid so they'll be ok with the stupid climate conference. There is no population explosion on this planet "Let's get one thing straight from the start. There is no population explosion. The rate of population growth has been slowing since the 1960s, and has fallen below replacement levels half the world over. But what about the other half? That's where population is exploding, right? Well, actually, no. The UN Population Division's world fertility patterns show that, worldwide, fertility per woman has fallen from 4.7 babies in 1970–75 to 2.6 in 2005-10. As Peoplequake author Fred Pearce puts it: "Today's women have half as many babies as their mothers … That is not just in the rich world. It is the global average today.""Overpopulation is a myth. "According to the U.N. Population Database, the world's population in 2010 will be 6,908,688,000. The landmass of Texas is 268,820 sq mi (7,494,271,488,000 sq ft).
So, divide 7,494,271,488,000 sq ft by 6,908,688,000 people, and you get 1084.76 sq ft/person. That's approximately a 33' x 33' plot of land for every person on the planet, enough space for a town house.
Given an average four person family, every family would have a 66' x 66' plot of land, which would comfortably provide a single family home and yard -- and all of them fit on a landmass the size of Texas. Admittedly, it'd basically be one massive subdivision, but Texas is a tiny portion of the inhabitable Earth."Also check out the website Debunking the Myth of OverpopulationPeople are greedy, which is why the government is stealing people's land and wanting the general population in cities. It's sickening to know how much food is wasted every day. The US is horrible about this. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Food Waste (HBO) Imagine using central park or something as a place where you plant fruit trees, and all the fruit is free. They don't want to clean up rotten food. But if you did that. you could have people just harvesting their own food instead of going to the store. Now do it in the poorer areas, and people would have free food. If people weren't lazy, and selfish they would actually be able to have fruit trees in the poorest areas and they could get their own food, take care of the trees, and eat of their work. But instead, people might want to take their own fruit, but not want to do the work and keep away the bugs and animals, because that's asking too much. We were meant to work for our food, not for money. And someday we will again. But it's not because we're over populated that people can't have food. It's really sad. If the governments cared about polluting our sky, they would stop doing it, by stopping the chemtrails, that NASA admits to doing. What goes up, must come down.

Of course, it is possible to control pollution. Actually, it is. Not enough, sadly, but just traveling proves that there are huge differences between countries. A city we see as very polluted in Europe is only average in China.
The world needs tighter regulations everywhere.

The argument against that is emission levels should be linked to population (i.e. on a per capita basis). The western world has developed, not caring about pollution. Now stricter norms seek to be imposed on developing countries.

No. That will give an incentive to nations such as India and Pakistan to increase their population without any limit. We can't afford this, as the world is heavily over populated right now. For example, in 1950 the population of Europe was more than 2 times that of India. But now, the population of India is 2 times that of Europe. IMO, the emission levels should be linked to total surface area.
