Well, I guess it is about time this organization finally starve itself from inefficiency and inefficacy.  It looks like the Bitcoin Foundation is probably on it way out.  http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-foundation-running-out-of-funds/

I see what you did there. I don't think they'll close down shop just yet, but if they do, someone with a similar vision will most likely replace it.

However the budget for that organization is a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

yep..
although i liked the idea that they paid some of the important developers of bitcoins protocol(and just the developers of the protocol).. i disliked how they wasted money elsewhere such as paying directors to sit in offices twiddling their thumbs.
EG
"Interim executive director Patrick Murck is yet to be reimbursed $12,000 in travel expenses for attending a DevCore workshop in London in April."

$12k to get on a plane for a few days? guess he stayed at the hilton
is this 6 minute presentation worth $12k? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsiBV3h-mUg
(cant find the london video, but if the boston video is anything to go on.....(facepalm))

is he really wasting 6 minutes at a developers conference trying to explain not developer stuff.. but company finances!!

Good riddance?

The most clear sign of its actual status and its perception to the people of bitcoin. It's a shame this situation for something unique like it is bitcoin. All the quarrels, all the "original" thoughts or behaviors have from every elected person or developer, every wrong policy about the use of accumulated funds and the totally anonymity in showing itself as a leader in everything regarding bitcoin cannot have other finish except this: lack of funds. And think that several months ago the bitcoiners donate a very big amount for someone which was no one. Only because was disturbed on its privacy because of one journalistic scoop about the same surname with the inventor of bitcoin. How will go bitcoin without funds?

"Missing bitcoins?" lol, someone most likely stole it seeing the easy opportunity. As for the site, never knew about it, never will care.

Andreas Antonopolous did the right thing by leaving at the right time. We don't need some official thing that "represents Bitcoin" in a political way or something. Bitcoin must stand by itself and the code must speak not some self acclaimed members of a foundation.

To much politics and personnel business going on anyway. It's nice to have a centralized figure head for protical changes, fixes, and updates but these guys are almost as bad as politicians.

$12k to get on a plane for a few days? guess he stayed at the hilton

It costs between $150 and $500 a night to stay at one of the London Hiltons. That leaves a remainder of more than $10k to explain. Did he fly there and back by a personally chartered private jet for his exclusive use? I bet you could afford one of those for less than 10k. Politicians are always getting caught fiddling their expenses, and the Bitcoin Foundation seems to have taken a leaf out of their book.

The corruption is just shocking.  Good that the money is all gone now - at least this means the stealing will certainly stop.

From the expereince i have, the organization might have been facing challenges that have threatened their existence. However, this is not a conclusion to say they are out of business. people to have their lows and highs when it comes to business. I am even sure that if this organization fail to rise from the challenges, there are people who will pick it up and continue embracing the vision that they had initially. A good idea will always sell out. watch out!

Looks more like a business class or first class plane ticket... Which is ofcourse completely ridiculous if you are running on their kind of funds...
I bet he wouldn't have spent 12k on that business trip if he knew he had to pay for it himself. Even if they had enough funds, they shouldn't reimburse this kind of shit.

Yup, that's it.

It would be nice to have some group (centralized) to offer credible information on Bitcoin, but without any "control" or "authorization".  I would welcome a "One Stop" place to get general BTC info.

Info only.  Lobbying and travel expenses?  Ahh, no...

Since when has the Bitcoin foundation done anything productive? Last I checked they paid the core devs, but then they even left. What do they even do now? I don't think people will care if the Bitcoin Foundation goes away, and it certainly won't have an effect on much. Although I suppose mainstream media will be all over it about how "Bitcoin is dead" since the Bitcoin foundation will have just stopped.
