I know this is a very noobish question, but... Can i mine with a Dual Core 2.4ghz CPU laptop? I'm only using free bitcoin websites to earn bitcoins and then buy a good computer to invest in bitcoin mining. Also, sorry for my bad english, i'm brazilian hehe ._.

Before April 2011 it was still cost effective to mine with a regular computer.

You can still mine with a cpu... But you would be wasting time and electricity and the end result would be nothing in return.

for the time being not even altcoin i think, cpu is out of range for everything, but if you really want you can look in the altsection, you may find something new to mine with cpu, or when cpu has an advantages

You can mine bitcoin with CPU. But that is just for hobby. The cost of electricity is much more than the bitcoin you will mine. I do not know if you can find a pool to accept CPU miner.

I have read about CPU-mined coins but I don't think a laptop grade CPU will be any efficient though.

It does not matter laptop or desktop even a server with ton's of cores.  Most make less then the electricity costs.  It's just hard to cpu mine now days.

Even if you were able to get a profit over electricity. You will never pay off gear your using to do it with.  Just not enough profit.

Yes you can mine with a dual core cpu but it isn't a cost effective way to make bitcoins.
You will be using your money and hardware's life in the end of it.

woh woh my friend @@ mining bitcoin with a quad core or even more core is obviously impossible not to mention dual core because you can stand a chance to win the ASICs and even GPU I suggest mining alt coin like Bytecent coin, XDN, XMR,... CPU only coin

ya it is correct mining in todays time is very wrong decision, you can mine but it will be loss of electricity and it is true that your laptop will also be dead due to over heat. it is better that you can  raise your rank and join a good signature campaign and earn by posting in this forum in other thread freely.
