The short answer is you can. But it is not profitable to mine. It will use a lot of electricity and you will not see 0.001 bitcoin in a few years.

You can but the earnings are zero (or near zero) so better try to use it for something else rather than for mining.

i guess you could possibly mine your bitcoins with it though you would earn extremely low bitcoin amounts what wouldnt give you any profit because of the electricity costs you would get when mining it so i wouldnt even start mining bitcoins right now

Yes, you can mine with a dual core CPU, even with a single core CPU. But the days for CPU mining have long gone, same for GPUs and FGPAs. People now mine using ASICs. Even with them, it is only profitable if you are in a region with low electricity costs or a place where electricity is free. With a dual core CPU, you're going to earn barely even dust.

Save yourself the wear and tear on your unit, honestly not really worth it unless you've got free electricity (or near free) and are willing to mine something obscure.  If your wanting to go that route I would take a look into gridcoin (GRC) from a profitability perspective.  I think primecoin might be another good candidate for CPU mining but not sure how profitable it is.

Bottom line, your not really going to make much of anything doing either and ultimately if you are paying for electricity what you do make more than likely won't cover the cost.

If your CPU has AES_NI support, you can mine cryptonote coins such as Moneor or Bytecoin. It is better not to mine bitcoin with CPU.

Yes if you mine with dual core cup it will take years for you to make very little amount of money it's just waste of time better look out for some advanced mining products available in the market now.

From everything I have read and others have posted I don't think it's very viable it could be worth you checking out the mining threads to put you on the right path if you seriously want to start mining.

Do not think about mining, it is not profitable at all to mine using CPU
Even if you are mining altcoins it will not cover the electricity cost.

The earnings from the dual core cpu are very low comparing on how much you will spend on electricity and the most important is the time spend. In conclusion it does not worth.

Screw whatever you get from mining and keep your laptop.
Worst case scenario your computer will burn (not literally) and die. Try faucets they're more profitable.

Even if you get a 16/32 core VPS or soemthing.... cpu mining still does not pay off.   Just to much cost for so little money.  You will lose cases in most cases.

I have not seen any recent ones of people paying off CPU/GPU mining rigs... just cost vs income does not work.

you can't mine with that it would cost a lot more then making profit it will be a good week if you get 0.2$ worth of bitcoin so don't waste time and money on that laptop for mining

It is better to use the money you pay for your electricity to buy the bitcoin directly. That is more profitable.

Yes you can mine with your CPU, but it won't be profitable anymore. You Can even mine BTC with your CPU but it won't get you anywhere. However you can mine some new altcoins with your CPU and trade them for BTC.

you can mine with any device... is it worth it? no. probably not. you could keep an eye on new CPU based altcoins and mine them when they're released (and hope they hold any value).

it's better to just buy bitcoin imo
