i guess you can mine bitcoins with anything though nearly with everything it is not profitable to mine it because there are a lot of machines nowadays that have a lot of power so the fees from your electricity would make you go to minus balance

yep. you can mine Altcoins with your dual core processor but it will be just a pure waste of time and energy. However if you still want to do it anyway you can use Minergate:

https://minergate.com/

It is very simple to use and can get you a few coins... but as I said before with a dual processor it isn't worth the effort.

If your CPU supports AES-NI, then you can mine cryptonote coins, these coins are anonymous, or more anonymous than bitcoin.

This thread still alive lol.

Let's put an end to this. Forget mining with Dual Core CPU. Yes it's really possible literally but it will take you a really really long time to get a decent return. Even you can afford and you have all that needed still it's a waste of time. Think out of the box than focusing on this method.

You can't, and if you force it, your computer will broke.

Why mine? you can earn bitcoin in another way that's more profitable than mining. Like Sig. Campaign or trading.

you can not earn from cpu mining because your reward coin cost too low than electric cost. cpu mining profitable(altcoins) before 2013 year.

You probably wouldnt break even unless you have free electricity but you might be able to make something from one of the altcoins or on something just announced that may hit an exchange

But what if he gets really lucky (like really reaaallly lucky). Would it be still possible for a CPU miner to mine for them and hitting a block at his first attempt??? (Being really optimistic here)

you can do that...but waste your time and electricity...your cpu will be very hot maybe its going to blow..
and you got a very2 low profit maybe almost no profit because of the electricity....

not with bitcoin, not ever in a million year, the diff is too high for any cpu to be able to hit a block, still more easy than a collision for sure

right now a cpu is not doing even 15 satoshi per day, and one block is 25, do the math, you need 250M days to be able to hit a block on average, this without counting the diff

Forget about mining, better focus on sig campaigns or anything else.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

If you mine XMG or Monero, you will earn more. But your computer has to support AES_NI for Monero.

You could mine with it but I wouldn't expect very much especially bitcoin, to what other people are operating with it, you should probably mine something else unless you don't a very small amount of bitcoin.

BCN (ByteCoin) uses the same cryptonight algorithm as the Monero.

You can mine of course, but you will not make Bitcoin gain through it.

I would recommend to use it to mine some altcoins and turn them into Bitcoin. This makes more sense using dual core CPU.

You can go for PoS coins, but don't mine as I had a dual core CPU and had a bad experience even mining altcoins...
It heats up a lot, and not profitable at all...
You can mine for fun, but don't expect too much from it...
