I try with i7 one last year, not seem to be success even use web pool mine, hope you get lucky
If you mine Monero with that i7, there is not a problem at all. It will get you some shares in the Monero mining. it will be unprofitable, since one i7 consume 90w without oc, and some "shares" of monero, are not going to cover the electrcity, let alone some profit

I think its better to join in signature campaign than mine using laptop or desktop dual core cpu. Because of high difficulty mining is not profitable right now and ifyou mine in your pc or laptop it can destroy your laptop or cpu if you mine bitcoinso even altcoin... So i suggest to move in another source of bitcoin.

It consumes about 30W and have 160H/s. It just covers the electricity cost.

Mining with processor is such waste of money and power! Those i7 processors are not cheap, and you can destroy them for a few moneros?!

I7 processor is not the one to be used for mining. If you want to mine Monero, buy a cheap processor with AES_NI support.

It is too late to do a cpu mining now. Even with the alt coin that I am currently looking now is discouraging the use of cpu and gpu.

I think there's no available mining software free to use your CPU from your laptop.. Maybe you can buy a cpu miner to use it as source of bitcoin but its not so profitable this days...but if you just want to learn how to mine so you can try a cheap one usb miner 10-25 usd you can buy it in ebay or amazon..

It depends on the coin that you are mining.Bitcoin is not viable with your setup but if you choose something with low difficulty that is traded on and exchange at a good price and reasonable volume you can do okay.

Mining bitcoin with CPU is not profitable anymore since the difficulty keep increasing by each day if only you tried to mine it with CPU back at 2011 you will probably be rich by now nowadays no one is mining with CPU anymore since the electricity will bring you down before you can make any decent profit try to buy yourself a mining rig like antminer if you want to mine coins

If we mine Alt coins with CPU, it can be profitable because of less difficulty.

Better avoid mining BTC or similar with CPU, you should try instead to mine cryptonote coins or CPU-only mineable coins. Get a search for CPU only coin and you will find something useful.

For most altcoin, it is not profitable to mine with CPU. Examples are Dash, Monro and Ethereum.
Ethereum could be an exception. It is mineable with CPU and you can make very little profit now. Don't even start with Ehereum, it is not a good altcoin to mine. First of all it is not hard capped coin. Than means developers can increase number of coins on a whim in the future - if they decide that there are not enough coins in circulation.
