Buying above 1000 dollar much have been like an panic buy. When i buy bitcoins i always check the history of the price. If is just settled there, i would never buy it, unless i expect it to raise even more.

Hehe true. Tell me did you sold them to prevent a larger loss. or did you keep them.
Hoping for a day to sell them back at 1100 or higher?

Bought before that but was too scared to sell, even though I kept telling myself it would drop for sure..

Reverse FOMO, fear of selling and missing out because of that is probably the feeling.

Probably many people lost a lot, but it is also likely that people sold their coins on the way back to 800 and 600 if they thought they were going to the moon at 1200.

Yeah most people are not willing to say if and how much they lost, But looking at the volumes that time, billions of euro's/dollars has been lost.
Going back from 1200 to 200 means some people (if they even sold it) lost over 80% of their investment. That's a lot mate.

I learned about bitcoin because that price spike happened. So I had to thank Mt.Gox and their bots for this. But frankly, if I was around during that time I wouldn't buy it
At that time price was enormous and it was obvious that it is a pump and dump scenario. People who bought at this peak were either too optimistic or silly to believe it would go higher.

Maybe for you, but not for others. There may have been people who got into bitcoin as the spike occurred and they hadn't had enough time to learn the more finer details of bitcoin - maybe not the smartest move, but it probably occurred all the same.

People who bought at this peak were either too optimistic or silly to believe it would go higher.

It's easy to scoff at them now that we can look back at that time period, and that we know it had gone down. However, back then a number of people thought bitcoin would continue to go up, no matter what others said.

All who were engaged in trade on the exchange at that time purchased at this price. I think that's what it costs in the horizon a couple of years back again.

Many people bought at such levels. Believe it or not, many got a chance to be introduced to bitcoin at that time because of all the attention it was receiving. It's unlikely that those who bought above 1000$ still hold their bitcoins from then, as people introduced to it for speculatory reasons have likely lost faith in the price rising to such levels again. It was a good time to be a trader though.

Yes, that true. Who ever first time they brought about 1000+ by thinking they can make huge profits by now they might have sold all those bitcoins for the huge lose. And also I don't think they will come back aging to bitcoin even price reach 10000+. It is common to any one once they lost trust on any one or thing most likely in their life time they will not look back into that. Lucky I didn't buy any at that price but started trading only recently. Currently prices looks like up trend don't know how long it will survive that price.

I haven't bought any bitcoin when price was at 1k mark. Better to say at those days i am not involved in bitcoin trading. Buy on steady price as it is more likely to go upward because steady price show people are holding for that price.

I don't know anyone that bought when the Bitcoin price was at its peak. They would have to be pretty stupid to do that, don't you think? I personally bought Bitcoin at $100.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did as well. I bought again when the price went down to $300 and I am hoping that it will rise over $1000 in the future so I can sell again.

Really... $1200 is a bargain for you, you must be real rich. It doesn't really seem like a bargain to me seeing as that you could have bought Bitcoin when it was just a couple of cents.

This. Lots of people bought at 1000+, that's why the price went that high in the first place (Willy aside) and was the time when BTC had its greatest exposure. Of course when the price goes so high so quickly, the new dumb money can't really absorb many expensive coins whereas the earlier adopters have endless quantities to dump...
