when some one decide to invest for "easy money" well in vast majority of case will lost all funds or a big portion...
like people that buy stock only for "the name" of some company...well marketing could be good to attract people to buy a product but not have the same mean of "company profit"... this sort of feeling it's the same that hit people when using HYIP... they got attracted by the marketing and identifies this expense as a proof of what a company do!
by the way... every time I did to some friends/parents "buy btc price will increase" price go down... I have to stop to make prediction Wink

I know a friend did, ended up selling during the peak in 2015, didn't really understand the currency though, went for some "easy money" and got destroyed.

why not? if I continue to see a positive environment behind the development of this e-currencies why not buy more (even if I have the "$" possibility?)
If you look with the eyes of the "investor" you will lost your money (and patience), but if you look as a new technology with strong potential, the price is not a matter Wink

Hey all, just as the title says, did anyone buy bitcoin when it's price was at it's peak ($1200)? And did they sell as it was dropping, or did they still hold on? I personally felt something was happening when it peaked :-/

So, back to the topic. Did anyone buy, and did they sell as it dropped? How much did they lose? Did you feel really really sad? What kind of an emotional impact did it have on you?
Bitcoin also can become idle coins,if they buy when price really high, and if they buy bitcoin when $1200 they have difficult situation,if they sold, they lose some value. If they not sold, they will wait until bitcoin reach $1200 again, and thats impossible for this month.

You would be pretty unlucky if you did. I personally didn't and I don't know anyone that did.

The $1200 price is just for very brief period. The price above $700 was just for a few days. There was a price spike then.

I personally know a friend who bought them when they were around $1000. He was too excited about the price inflation and claimed that the prices would further reach new heights of $5000+(idk from where did he got that information), the prices never went that high and so he is still holding his coins and is looking to get rid of them during the next halvening.

I did not buy at that time. I was looking for mining then for trading luckily. But I bought some coins later when price was around $500. But I am not worry about price, it will go up.

Yes we need not to worry on the prices of bitcoin if we we are ready to wait for long term. Yes, with capped total coin supply bitcoin is fated to keep on appreciating over time when it gains popularity day by day.

In deed. The price will go up in the future as more people are aware of bitcoin and its benefit.

Got in during the bubble when it was 500ish. Didn't buy any during 1200 but wish I had sold what I had  Lips sealed

Don't know anyone that bought in during that time but whoever did probably hates Bitcoin with a passion now.

...

I did not make that particular purchase (I did buy my first few BTC in the $700s).

But I did buy gold at $1500 (and lower).  Gold is at some $1070 now.  But I count my gold holdings in OUNCES, not US$...

Everyone is foolish at times.  Every investor makes mistakes.

I did not, but I did not know Bitcoin back then. I am not ashamed to say that I would probably have bought some if I had known about it at that time... and probably I would have left Bitcoin in the down.

I wasn't around then. I'd like to think I would've seen the signs but reading through the old threads you can feel the sense of euphoria. I guess a sensible guy would see it for what it was and sold up but I'm not so sensible.
