Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Well there isn't a right answer to that question. Usually what could give you a fair shot is a high report accuracy with a high number of reported posts. However, that does not guarantee anything. Technically we are not on a salary, but rather get a part of the ad revenue depending on how much work we do. ATM there is no need for new patrollers if you ask me. Most of the time there are 0 reports to be handled.

Like on most big forums you can't just follow some rules and you'll become a moderator. They (admins and staff) will choose you if you hard work, help a lot of people, do some nice tutorials, etc. That's how I think it's made, but I can be wrong.

Asking to be a mod and doing so just because you want to get paid isn't a good idea and is probably the opposite of what you want to be doing. Report a lot of posts with a good accuracy and be a very active member of the community and if you're needed an admin might ask you eventually, but I wouldn't make it a goal to become a mod as you'll likely only be setting yourself up for dissapointment and might be waiting a long time especially seeing as there's a couple of members with thousands of posts reported and will probably be the next in line when the admins feel like we need more support.

Like on most big forums you can't just follow some rules and you'll become a moderator. They (admins and staff) will choose you if you hard work, help a lot of people, do some nice tutorials, etc. That's how I think it's made, but I can be wrong.

That's what happened with me. I wrote up this epic guide and theymos said "that's a sweet ass tutorial you created... want to be a mod?" and I said yes.

One of the main things you need to have, is a good reputation. Your reports need to be accurate and no negative trust.

No

No, it only matters slightly
no negative trust.
Wouldn't want a scammer being a moderator now would you?
And could you please stop padding your post count for the sake of pot activity, even a brand noob can figure that your account is bought.
That's what happened with me. I wrote up this epic guide and theymos said "that's a sweet ass tutorial you created... want to be a mod?" and I said yes.
BTW, which guide were you talking about? I haven't seen any thread created by you that has been stickied, which I guess is the first thing to do if such a (good)guide was posted.

It wasn't a bitcoin-based guide but a tutorial on how to make your own home made vegan edible lube.

If you ask me, it would be better if the question wasn't asked for in the first place. Now a ton of mod wannabe's could start randomly reporting posts
and write LQ tutorials - all in the hope they will be mods one day.  Grin

btw it would be nice if the community could also participate in mod choosing #VodForMod

I don't think that the forum needs any more moderators. The moderators right now are doing the job properly.

How to apply, just stay active within the forum, be trustworthy and demonstrate that you're the person worthy for the job Wink

You'll probably just have to contact Theymos, but why would you want that?

Are moderators paid? I think it is probably pretty tedious work

Contacting theymos does not guarantee anything, especially not getting the status of a moderator. Moderators are technically not being paid, but are rather rewarded for their work (depending on how much they actually do per month).

You have to report enough posts with at least 85% accuracy and have a certain member rank and not have any negative trust I suppose. Let's not forget that you might also need to acquire some kind of taste for free-form jazz.
