i guess its still the husband that rules. and if he screw up, its the wife that's to be punished? that makes sense.
Local elected officials have very few powers in Saudi Arabia. However, they control the local bodies and do deal with good amounts of funds. I am not sure what will happen, if the official's husband (or the other male relatives) engages in corruption or money laundering. Probably, the elected female official will be the one who is gong to get punished.
