http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/story/2012/11/30/cn-biodiesel-mystery-shipment.html

In 2010, a company called "Bioversel Trading Inc." apparently paid CN Rail to ship the same trainload of biodiesel across the US/Canadian border 24 times, at a cost of $2.6 million.  The reason is not clear.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Private businesses can do whatever they want as long as they don't damage private property.

Besides, most land along railroads is government property. Why governments need so much land to begin with is beyond me though.

It is a convenient system for dividing land and redefining borders and roads without landowner consent.

Convenient for a government that could just eminent domain your property for peanuts maybe.
