For the price performance so far after the hard fork, it seems there are new money coming to absorb the dump.

Some of the big ETH bag holders such as C-level people from Coinbase and Shapeshift dumping bitcoins to sustain the ETH price. It's a good opportunity to buy btc at current level.

If that is true, then it is better to buy the bitcoin. But Ethereum still has some supporters, people even support the Ethereum classic.

I think you have to have loads of money to tweak the price.

24 h Volume BTC USD = over 10000 BTC
https://www.bfxdata.com/orderbooks/btcusd

24 h Volume ETH BTC =  over 300k ETH
https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/stats

But in general, I'd say BTC will go up, ETH down. Just my 2c

The Ethereum has two versions, the Ethtreum and the Ethereum Classic. One of them should survive.

I think the ETH will survive. It is supported by more miners and there is no danger of the hacker dump coins.

Do you think the DAO hacker will dump his coin and kill the ETC? How does he protect himself after the dump?

Maybe the DAO hacker is part of the ETC pumper team. But it is still too dangerous for  him to hold so many.

LOL, DAO dump is those that get the refund running for the woods, the hacker will not destroy ETC, not only is he invested but was proving a point which would be lost if he dumped. I would not be surprised if the hacked funds get used to support ETC.

Step back and put your thinking hats on boys. Ohh and looks like the ETH scardy camp are resorting to Ddos, I should bump that thread, I'm always too far ahead of the curve. Lol

That could be good. If the ETC price is high, I will mine and dump the ETC to make some money out of it.

This year, I think ETH will go up before the year ends. Because if you look at the price, you can see that the price is now higher than before. You can also see that the ETH price before is so low. So as I have said, ETH will go up and maybe if the Bitcoin Currency will drop when the time comes, maybe ETH will rise and be the Top 1 Cryptocurrency in the world. If all the Bitcoin Blocks are mined, maybe ETH will rise above the top.

ETC over 2x ETH volume on polo!

ETC hash over tripled last 24 hours.

Hmmm, holding the wrong shitcoin maybe?

Are you very confident that the DAO hacker will support the ETC and not to dump his stolen funds on the market?

I do not think he knows unless he is part of the ETC pump team. The ETC price is quite high at present.

The ETC price is still just 14% of the ETH and the hashing rate is similar 14%. It is difficulty to say which is shitcoin now.

Are you very confident that the DAO hacker will support the ETC and not to dump his stolen funds on the market?

Even if he does, that represents about a quarter of a day ETC trading volume.
There are many, many more automatic ETC holders that are dumping their ETC on the exchanges.

The hacker dumping wouldn't be the end of it.

Rationally, people should hedge and put 50 - 50 of value in both, and both should evolve towards equal price simply because their value proposition is essentially equal (same monetary proposition, same utility, same history), but then the market doesn't always acts to these simple rational views because there are more complex phenomena going on because these are ultimately, pure belief systems.

The investors will not have any confidence to buy a coin when there is big potential for the price to be dumped to 0.

for investors, your statement may be correct, but the traders do invest in there, they know that the price of ethereum is fluctuating and it has some potential appeared to increase so they are going to get profit from there.
