After many weeks, tons of tickets, ludicrous withdraw fees and limits and a lot of loss due to being costricted to buy 30% overpriced doge to withdraw, I finally managed to get out of cryptsy all my funds, losing "only" roughly 10-15% of it.
Tomorrow they are supposed to go in mainentance mode and fix a lot of wallets. I obviously don't trust them, and i'm very suspicious about this " scheduled mainentance" , so i'm advising you with this post.

Well maybe you should considered yourself lucky, Because not all have the opportunity to withdraw the funds from there. So maybe better is to loose 10-30% rather than losing all, and maybe this topic should be moved to Service Discussions

Are the withdrawal fees higher now? I haven't used Cryptsy in a couple of months I think, and when I did a DOGE-->BTC trade, it was something like 0.001 BTC. Is that about right? Glad you got out. I don't trust anything they say now.

I hear much negative people about cryptsy. What has happened that all people are angry/mad at them? It is obvious people can't withdraw, but what/who caused that cryptsy had to disable withdraw?

Part of the reason that people are upset is, they have not said what caused it. They have given no substantial update at all... Just they are working on it. The only thing I have seen is people blaming the users for getting worried. One of the admins said that the FUD is the reason this is such a mess... Because it is unprecedented that an exchange would fail and customers would loose money...

I think they were obviously acting in fractional-reserve-mode, like ALL the exchangers (including bitstamp) do (nobody want to provide any proof of solvency ever), and something went bad. But, for this, they need to were doing an insane fractional reserve, like 10%.
The other possibility is they got hacked (they will for sure say this).
I think also that they didn't programmed to do that, and now they are disperately trying to make money trough doge arbitrage, but i'm nor sure if they are doing it to avoid default of to scam more.

I think the big problem people have is they are still allowing deposits to the exchange, and not warning people at all there is a problem. Many people (myself included) didnt know there was an issue at first. I deposited my coins, traded them to BTC and then tried to withdraw them.... when it didnt work I opened the chat room and saw everyone having issues, and then I googled it and confirmed there was a big issue.
At the very least they should have a banner up warning people there will be a significant delay in processing withdraws on many coins... Then people would have had advance warning

BigVern @cryptsy16 Dec All wallets will be offline on Friday 12/18 for one hour due to equipment changes.
There is no need to panic. Banks very often close service operation for maintenance.

That's why there is no chance that they are being honest

If the site was working and people could withdraw the funds they had in there... this would be a non issue. If you bank stopped allowing you to withdraw funds for a number of days and then made that announcement... different story.

Glad that you managed to get your coins out, there has been a lot of issues going on with Crypsty and if you have coins in there I hope everyone gets them out but nobody should be sending coins there way in this climate.

I would strongly recommend to everyone who still have funds on Craptsy to do same as OP. It is far better to lose 10-15% that all funds. Cryptsy is dying for a while now and if they plan exit scam, now is perfect time. I dont think they can gather lot more funds, altcoiners are not that stupid and naive.

BTC withdrawal fee = 0.001btc + 5% of BTC value. Tremendous fee.
Never trust Cryptsy anymore.
