We can spread bitcoin effectively just by continuously buying, using or selling it. As I read, half amount of the available bitcoin as of now belongs to like 10 to 20 individuals/organizations and other half amount are those circulating in the market around the world. If these individuals/organizations suddenly dump their bitcoins then it might be very bad for bitcoin price. To cut it short, one should not hoard a huge amount of bitcoin, it should continuously  circulate in the market to be spread effectively.

I would suggest mass marketing as that is the only effective way for it to be known world wide and in a positive way to gain viable market recognition.
