Thanks for the replies. I am using the Private Internet Access VPN. It might have something to do with it. Anyway, it seems like the fault of blockchain.info because they assume that I use Tor but I don't use Tor and I don't intend to start using Tor just because of them suggesting it. Should I contact their support and start whining about it?
Did you try with different ip?
Ok unfortunately I didn't look what my old VPN IP was but after disconnecting and reconnecting to the VPN I was able to connect to blockchain.info again. Perhaps such an act made me connect to a different VPN server with a different IP which made the difference. I didn't change the gateway though, it's still nl.privateinternetaccess.com I just reconnected and it started working. Thanks for the help. This hasn't happened to me before. I was already afraid that blockchain.info has gone nazi against VPN users.
edit:
I found the old IP address which was 109.201.154.208
After reconnecting this indeed changed and the new one is working properly with blockchain.info
I still don't like that blockchain.info is discriminating users by their IP address, it's sort of racist
