Hello. I need some help very much.
I am a new user to Electrum. I have version 2.5.4 in Tails.
2 weeks ago I created electrum wallet and sent around 0,5btc on one of adresses which I saw there. Next day I checked my wallet, money was in it. Since then I didn`t open it.
Meanwhile Tails system updated to latest version.
Today I opened electrum wallet again and all I see is some new adresses, all are with balance 0, no sign of this address where my money stayed.
I tried to restore my wallet from a seed, but nothing changed - still pile of other adresses with 0 balance each.
How can I restore the one where my money is staying?
Or is it possible to use this money and to check my balance even when I don`t see that adress?

If you restored with the correct seed, your money is there. Check that Electrum is laoding the corrent wallet file where your seed is.

it seems correct. seed is written as it should be. but.. nothing Sad
where else can I check my balance? besides page "adresses"?

I just saw that on bottom line of electrum`s window it`s written "disconnected from server"
is it possible that I can`t see balance because it needs connection to check it?
why is it not connecting then? I`m waiting for hour aready...

Yes, that seems to be the issue, if you can't connect, Electrum cannot parse the blockchain and see the funds on your addresses. Click on the connection menu and try to specify a server manually.

You can check the balance of that address on any block explorer such as blockchain.info/address/1xxxxxxxxxxxxx

1xxxxxxxxxxxxx = your address

If it shows the correct balance then don't worry, your funds are intact, electrum just needs to sync properly and when it does the light will at the right bottom will turn green and you'll see your funds in there. If it can't sync then you need to check your network connection and your firewall if it is blocking any ports etc.

I just checked on blockchain. It shows proper balance on one of the addresses which I have in my wallet. Though it`s not the one which I used to receive money, but the one which is staying in the wallet under the title "change". Is that normal? I don`t know why is money moved from one address to another.
Anyway...
My network connection is ok, other programs are working, and there is no firewall.
I tried to use few servers manually, but still no connection.

Is there any other way to use my money if Electrum program doesn`t want to connect?
I really need it...

Change addresses are used with the purpose of rotating and to avoid the reuse of addresses when you do a transaction. When you send your BTC from the Electrum wallet, part of that is sent to the receiver, and another part is sent to a change addresses.

This is done because reusing addresses is bad for privacy and security (third parties can monitor your transactions easily).

Ok.. I understood about addresses, thank you for your explanation.

And what about this connection trouble?
Is there any other way to use my money if the program doesn`t want to connect?
Maybe some online interface from browser or another program which can restore the same wallet or... whatever?

You can export your private keys from electrum and import them into any other wallet and take control of your bitcoins, if you're looking for a web wallet which does this then you can use blockchain.info wallet's import wallet feature, although I wouldn't recommend it because web wallets are not as safe as electrum is.

Another way is making a raw transaction with electrum and broadcasting it with blockchain.info's push transaction, that way your keys and btc remain safe but you will have to do that everytime you want to send bitcoins which can be a bit of a hassle.
