I've become very interested in bitcoins and bitmining lately, I am 23 and 3 days away from graduating with my finance degree and minor in econ (have it I pass this one specific econ class....). I have high hopes for a new future, planning on what I am going to be building for my mining rig. I have a badass gaming PC but it has an Nvidia gpu :\ so i'll have to get a radeon or something from BFL. I am really ambitious and really anxious, although mining has been very anything but joyous (so much time spent for 0.02BTC) I keep thinking of new ideas and am about to move my concentration of analyzing stocks to analyzing BTC trade trends with technical analysis. I would like to get rolling, so maybe one day I can be there helping out the whole community like it is helping me now and forever!

Thanks for reading my current status and goal.  If you are feeling generous and want to support my graduation (I'll even scan my future diploma =)) then I would love you. Once i get 3 donations i'll do a backflip and post a video! (asian ninja skillz)

Some thoughts to get you started, from someone who's been involved in this since before yesterday:

  • Don't waste your time or effort mining.
  • Take whatever spare dollars you have lying around (and whatever you were planing to spend on ATI or BFL) and transfer it in to two or more bitcoin exchanges.
  • Do not waste your time thinking about trends or technical analysis.
  • Immediately put about 20% of your capital in bitcoins, leaving the remainder in USD on or near the exchanges.
  • Scale that 20% target percentage to 50% over the next 3 months or so.
  • Rebalance your BTC/USD holdings when it moves +/- 5% outside of your target.
  • Place scaled bids below the market and scaled offers above the market using 10-15% of your capital.
  • Keep the majority of your BTC on your own PC (USB key/paper wallet/brain wallet) and well protected, not in a web wallet or exchanges.
  • AVOID SCAMS and SCAMMERS.
  • Find something useful or valuable that you can do or make and sell it for bitcoins.  Something that somebody would also pay you dollars for.

Good luck.

oh wow, thanks a bunch. Okay so you're basically saying instead of mining, reinvest my capital into bitcoins now and early. Keeping my BTC off a wallet, so in other words they could be dispersed on the exchanges and is that what you'd mean by brain wallet?  I started talking to my friend about BTC and it was ~ 11.50 each, now they are 13+, i can see a buncha potential gain for the future
