I saw some threads with auctions and the prices were pretty insane even for the 1 BTC ones, because of the extra exotic rarity of being physical coins as in collectibles. I would like to know what would people be willing to pay for a 1000 BTC coin. Of course this is just because im curious, I don't even have 2 figures in my wallet.

There isn't much action on the market for 1000 BTC tokens, for obvious reasons, and I only remember such a thing being on the forums for sale/price check two times. One of them happened here and there was another one of a user who knew someone who had a 1000 BTC bar (not finding it right now), so there isn't any set market price for such a rare item, I believe Smiley

If you are talking about the 1000 BTC gold coins, I believe the last sale was rumored to be a private sale of somewhere around a million dollars. The user Goat they call him did a private deal somewhere. Whether or not the information is true I wouldn't know

Here was his sale thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=331372.0
Looks like in the images there are a couple goldies.

I think the same seller of the funded 1000 btc coin wanted $50,000 for a redeemed one. If I remember rightly Casascius made a fair few but only actually sold a literal handful.

It certainly would be intriguing to see what would happen if another popped up. I imagine it would appeal to a tiny but pretty rabid circle of buyers.

Just to think that 1000BTC coin loaded was worth over $1,000,000 not so long back Shocked.

$50k for a redeemed one seems a bit steep.

I tried to buy the redeemed one from Goat and offered $5K + value of 1oz of gold. He then upped it to $50k. I was like whatever. It isn't worth it. Buy $50k in BTC instead.

Goat sold his last 1K BTC gold coin for $1M when the price was around $830/BTC. It was a part gold, bitcoin, and cash deal.

Thats interesting to know, lucky old goat eh Cheesy.

I agree $50k seems way too high, I think your offer of $5k + gold was very generous.

But what do I know, I havent got $1M+ after selling bitcoin Cool.

I remember when Goat did that sale...there is a thread here somewhere. I would offer 5k for a spent gold anytime.

If goat sold a 1,000 btc bar for a million dollars with btc trading around $830 then you would want to strip out the digital value of the coin to figure out the premium. With btc trading at 830, that would put the value of the btc stored in the bar at $830,000, and the premium at $170,000 or ~204.82BTC, which is, by far the largest premium a casascius coin has fetched to my knowledge(to be fair, some of that premium was the gold value of the bar, but that would not be more then a few thousand dollars).

Also important, is the accuracy of the $830/btc figure, as if the price of btc was even a little bit higher then the quoted 830 figure then the premium would quickly disappear and would not be all that different then the premium someone might expect to pay when buying 1,000 btc

Wow that dude's collection is absolutely insane. He has been around at least since 2011 judging by his registration date. I wonder at what price did he buy all those coins back then.

I was jobless and pennyless, but had a bunch of bitcoin back when the gold casascius came out. I think the price including BTC at that time was around $23,000. With a ROI that Goat had, I wish I had taken out a loan and bought one.  Angry

This coin looks promising: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1306251.msg13391757

As above it was considerably less than that. Having said that you would've had to have been fairly brave to take the plunge. BTC was still pretty much nowhere. Easy to go for in hindsight. Casascius preferred buyers to supply the coins for this so if I'd mined them for peanuts I think I would've gone for it.
