Bitcoin Core can't run on Android due to the space constrains. I would go for Bitcoin Wallet or Mycelium. Bitcoin Wallet does not use change addresses or use any seed and hence have privacy concerns regarding it(address reuse)[1] AFAIK. However, it allows users to connect to a trusted node and obtain information from it. Mycelium have various features, importing private keys, BIP32 seeds etc. It sends the change to a new address and hence doesn't allow address reuse. You can also use it on multiple computers with apps that have the same BIP32 derivation path[2]. Some of it's features include cold storage spending. However, it does not allow users to select a node and the client automatically connects to their node. This introduces the risk of sybil attack and they can potentially fake information(central validation). I think OP is looking for a wallet where he controls his private keys. ranochigo's suggestions are good. I really like Mycelium.

"Address reuse refers to the use of the same address for multiple transactions. It is an unintended practice, abusing the privacy and security of the participants of the transactions as well as future holders of their value. It also only functions by accident, not by design, so cannot be depended on to work reliably. "
Does it mean that when you spend a coin in my Mycelium wallet, the address with it can't be use again and that I have to move the rest of my coin to another wallet? This is going to be tiresome for me as I just want to save my coin for later use but at the same time ready to be used when needed as its just on my phone unlike having it on my laptop.

Since Mycelium uses BIP32/BIP44 seeds, you can use it with any other compatible clients that uses the same derivation path. You can still use the receiving address repeatedly but the change will be sent to a new address that is generated with the seed. That is the same with Bitcoin Wallet.* *Sorry, my previous answer was erroneous, changing it now.

I recommend you to use blockchain android wallet with exporting your private keys so if their services are down you still have access to your coins. That's exactly what I did. I used mycelium before and it is good but changing the address with every transaction is quite frustrating.

There's a way to avoid this. You can generate an address in the separate account and make a back up of it. The change will then be sent back to your original address. Blockchain.info had numerous past security flaws.

Use Bither is the only one I use for android and all other platforms now. Never had any problems with it and moved away from qt and other wallets due to how big and over loading they can be. Bither nice light weight and simple and very effective to use.

Without a shadow of a doubt: Mycelium. It's hands down the best Bitcoin wallet app for Android. A good alternative is Copay (available for any platform, not just Android). I appreciate what coinbase and blockchain.info are doing for the Bitcoin ecosystem, but their wallet apps are horrible, and no match compared to the two above. Not to mention that with coinbase and blockchain.info, you're still entrusting your funds with a 3rd party. And in case of coinbase, they put all sorts of registration requirements and restrictions on top of that, with user policies and whatnot. Bitcoin is supposed to be free (as in free speech) and independent. Seriously, go for Mycelium.By the way, there's also an iOS version of Mycelium but that isn't as good. On iOS I would highly recommend Breadwallet. Or, again, Copay.

Mycelium is the obvious choice if you are looking for an android wallet, and only an android wallet. If you want to use it in tandem with a computer, youre going the wrong way. For tandem users, use blockchain.info. by default, the wallet is protected by a 4 letter pin. Go onto your PC and set up double encryption and 20k iterations, and you'll be fine.

Blockchain.info is for if you're using a phone and computer, and I'd highly recommend mycelium if you simply want to use just your phone.

Bitcoin Smart Wallet is a nice wallet. And as many others say: Mycelium. The majority wins.

I have the blockchain.info wallet on my tab. So far, I haven't had a problem on a mobile platform but I would not recommend it for using it for long-term storage, as the wallet could be hacked.. Bircoin core for Android is an excellent wallet as well.

Signatures? How about learning a skill... I don't care either way. Everybody has to make a living somehow.
