The screenshots above come from the Bitcoin Wisdom mining calculator  ( https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator ) .  Having free electricity is a good starting point, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll even earn back your initial investment in hardware.  Lots of other people are also buying S7 at the moment, and the network difficulty has been jumping rapidly.  The faster the difficulty rate increases, the more quickly the earning potential of your miner disappears.  Right now, you might earn .7 to .8 BTC a month with that S7.  By the time you get the shipment from Bitmain in January, it might be .5 to .6 per month, and a few months later, it will be down to .3.  So it's a race to get the miner up and running as fast as possible, to reach a breakeven point before the network difficulty becomes too high for the S7 to matter.

If you are looking for profit then it doesn't worth at all even with free electricity unless if you mine a lot of btc and you can do something with them and earn some extra money (forget about exchange as the profit is small) and unless that you hope that the btc price will be increase a LOT !

What would be a lot of BTC? How would it not be worth it if you had free electricity?

With some simple calculations you can see that you need about 1300 $ to get one S7.

Then you can get for the first two weeks with current difficulty about 155$ (1 btc 430$) and then with the next difficulty at least 10% up you will get for next two weeks 140 $.

One month total profit 295$

Then if you calculate the extra about 8% difficulty up every two weeks (and for now what i say is very minimum) then you will see that you will need about 10-12 months to get your money back and then start from 2017 for profit.

You can imagine how much you will earn with that machine in 2017 with halving (50% up the difficulty extra to what you count) at this summer...

No way!

You must bet that the btc price will go at least 100% up !!!!!

or the price of the S7 to drop 1000. I am new to this, so I really don't understand the increasing difficulty.

it's because more miners join, the network, and the network always deliver the same amount of coins not more, so everyone will earn less, unless the new hash coem from the same farm, which mean that this farm will earn more, "stealing from the other"
