Hi everyone,

I've been reading this thread for two years. I want to share some thoughts that may bother some of you, but please read to the end before you start downvoting.

You've spent years analyzing this puzzle and after ONE single post from someone claiming "no pattern, just brute force", you all followed like sheep. Has anyone actually thought for themselves? Has anyone considered that the creator might be a genius who built something genuinely SIMPLE to solve — but only if you stop looking through a brute-force lens?

Let me share a few thoughts. In daily life I think nonlinearly, against patterns, which is why I've been studying this puzzle for hours every day since I discovered it. I know it might sound strange that nothing has been found — but I don't believe that's the case. I see something specific in this puzzle: a concrete pattern. I hope I'm not wrong, but like all of you I've analyzed the obvious things — seeds, brute force, simple solutions — and got nothing. Just like you.

After months of analyzing everything that's been studied before — de Bruijn sequences, Mersenne numbers, blocks, grids, triangles (left- and right-aligned), keys with leading zeros — I've covered nearly everything, and a few angles still remain. I might be one literal step away in some analysis and I'll keep going — but NOT the way most of you do, who think this is a brute-force puzzle.

I understand many of you will criticize me, but I use my head, and maybe you'll do the same — read this with reason and judge for yourselves.

BASIC OBSERVATIONS you should consider:

The creator built a puzzle with keys #1–256. Lower keys were fun to brute force, then code and GPU sites emerged. I see some of you experimenting and researching — I might be able to show what I've already covered. I have several hundred scripts and over 2,000 pages of analysis in a book I've been writing for two years. Maybe someone among you will find something in that analysis that I myself, after looping back so many times, may have missed.

But back to THE CREATOR.

Do you really think that in 2015, when the entire prize was worth roughly the cost of a good dinner at a restaurant, someone would build a brute-force puzzle? I don't. The creator was a GENIUS. Cryptography and coding were his passion, and he built this puzzle for colleagues in his field — to solve over a cup of coffee. The reward was symbolic. What matters is the SYMBOL and the STRUCTURE — like the perfect coupling of position index with exact bit-length without leading zeros.

The creator knew that the right bit-length without leading zeros throws each key into a specific bucket, and we get a clean partition into FOUR GROUPS. Has any of you noticed this? If yes — you're a master and you're thinking brilliantly. If no — you're probably just buying GPUs and searching.

So let's keep going with this "genius" theme. Has any of you asked yourself: WHY exactly 256 keys? Has anyone systematically studied repetitions, occurrences, duplicates? Has anyone actually READ saatoshi_rising's post and his reply and thought about what he was ACTUALLY saying?

Did he really not think about the RIPEMD160 issue with keys 161–256? I believe he did — and his statement was SARCASM. Someone who designed such a perfectly assembled puzzle could not POSSIBLY miss this. He had it all thought through, but he replied that way, and you couldn't read what he was actually trying to say.

OK, perhaps too much philosophy in one post. But you see — I think nonlinearly, and the creator inspired me, because what he built is something genuinely SIMPLE, worth the dinner-cost of the time and the moment of his attention — something he wanted to SHOW OFF, because no one would build such a structurally perfect puzzle that is actually unsolvable.

ONE MORE THING — if anyone tells me "it's random, the seed matters" — has any of you thought about something basic: HOW could the creator have generated a seed yielding keys with leading zeros, randomly but deterministically? Has any of you considered how hard it is to find a random vanity address, let alone generate a private key with leading zeros? Did it occur to you that those leading zeros SHOW that the creator was building something MANUALLY ON THE BITS? You're all still searching in wallets and seeds.

So to summarize — I have thousands of considerations in my book. I planned to publish it once I had the full solution — but if I publish the solution, someone scoops the entire reward. In 2015 the prize was a nice gesture, but today it's serious money and millions of people are circling. I expect that if I share my two years of 10-hour-a-day research, someone will find something, finish the puzzle, and take everything. So out of respect for the creator, I won't reveal too much. Think for yourselves: is this brute force, or a clever logical puzzle? Did the creator make one isolated key per output, or does EVERY SOLVED KEY CONTAIN DATA needed for the next one?

Thank you for any kind feedback. I hope you'll see this puzzle a little differently now — as something mathematically wonderful and logical, not as something someone built to find out how much you'd spend on GPUs.

He didn't have to search for random private keys; you can do this with a simple Python script. Regarding the fact that he didn't take into account Ripemd160, the creator himself admitted that he didn't give it much thought. Later, he improved his measurement tool by making it more appealing, exposing the public keys of every fifth key. This reinforces his argument that it's a measurement tool, since with a high percentage of keys discovered, the pattern would have been visible, and the only pattern is that each key increases its difficulty exponentially by 1 bit at a time.

You are quite right, 161-256 are silly.  I honestly just did not think of this.  What is especially embarrassing, is this did not occur to me once, in two years.  By way of excuse, I was not really thinking much about the puzzle at all.

I will make up for two years of stupidity.  I will spend from 161-256 to the unsolved parts, as you suggest.  In addition, I intend to add further funds.  My aim is to boost the density by a factor of 10, from 0.001*length(key) to 0.01*length(key).  Probably in the next few weeks.  At any rate, when I next have an extended period of quiet and calm, to construct the new transaction carefully.

A few words about the puzzle.  There is no pattern.  It is just consecutive keys from a deterministic wallet (masked with leading 000...0001 to set difficulty).  It is simply a crude measuring instrument, of the cracking strength of the community.

Finally, I wish to express appreciation of the efforts of all developers of new cracking tools and technology.  The "large bitcoin collider" is especially innovative and interesting!

I managed to lower the complexity of #135 from 67.5 to 57.5 bits. I've already tested my method and it works perfectly. Now I'm waiting on vast.ia; I hope I get lucky or succeed as soon as possible.

You actually highlighted the key point yourself, perhaps without noticing: you said the private keys were "TRANSFORMED into keys ranging from 1 to 256 bits." That word "transformed" is the whole question.

Raw HD wallet output is uniformly 256-bit. The creator's own phrasing — "masked with leading 000...0001 to set difficulty" — describes a SPECIFIC manual transformation. That isn't native BIP32; it's a designed step. The exact form of that transformation is information, and information isn't free.

One more thing about reading the creator. I've spent two years analyzing every line he wrote, and I read his "I will make up for two years of stupidity" very differently than the community does. He isn't apologizing for HIMSELF — he's calling out US, the players. Look at the tone carefully: "of course, you geniuses are right, I clearly didn't think this through, two whole years went by and the great experts of brute force somehow can't solve it — so yes, my mistake, I'll fix this stupidity for you." That isn't humility. That's sarcasm. He built the structure deliberately, with full awareness. When sabbybibi finally asked the right question about RIPEMD160, he answered in a way that satisfied surface readers and let the community keep burning GPUs. The community could at this point open a separate thread — "brute-only, no thinking required" — and let the rest of us actually engage with the puzzle as a puzzle.

Regarding "every fifth public key exposed" — yes, this is true. But look closer: each of those 26 exposed public keys (P5, P10, ..., P130) maps via the (k, 161−k) diagonal to a key already solved at lower n. That correspondence is testable. Among the 8 testable pairs available right now (P31-P130, P36-P125, P41-P120, P46-P115, P51-P110, P56-P105, P61-P100, P66-P95), all 8 share the same LSB. That's not the result of "random selection from a deterministic wallet" without an additional constraint.

p ≈ 1/256 = 0.39%.

I'm not claiming a magic shortcut, and I have no interest in spoiling anyone's GPU farm. I'm questioning whether the architectural assumption "pure brute force is the only path" is COMPLETE. The creator's statement and the on-chain history are both consistent with a more interesting design than the community currently considers.

Read the structure carefully.

The creator was able to do something as basic as this: he used a real seed, derived the 256 private keys, limited them to the corresponding number of bits for each one, and then generated the addresses from that result. There is no pattern; I just organize it according to the difficulty.

Some do not exactly match in their initial digits to force the private key to be within the bit range.

Perhaps because Bitcoin private key length, with proper entropy, consists of i don't know? 256bits? From 1 to 2^256-1? Start replacing the leading bits with 0, you get what? Less secure private keys?

What RIPEMD160 issue? There is no issue whatsoever with RIPEMD160 "present or not present", if public key isn't exposed it simply increases the difficulty. It destroys any relationship with the input - sha256, which also destroyed any relationship with it's input - public key, and 161-256 are literally pointless, if you combined all of the computers produced until now and that will ever be produced, and you united them all to solve 161-256, it would take time somewhere roughly from big bang until the end of the universe. Even with public key exposed, same time frame.

Here you have literally the seed used to generate "256" keys, and you could spend an eternity "analyzing" "patterns", and you would find nothing. And analyzing the set of solved private keys for a "pattern"? With how many solved private keys, 80? Using a set of 80 points, to analyze a distribution in a space of 2^160? What the ****? That is the whole point of modern cryptography, it isn't that "it's impossible to solve", you can solve, there are algorithms to solve it, there is everything you could possibly need to solve it, but the main point is that it's "computationally impossible" to do so.

This is a forum, and a thread about the BPT puzzle. Your approach interested me, but the response I got was an immediate attack. I'm surprised you didn't ask what interesting things I've found. I might have shown you something. Instead, an instant attempt to discourage readers from me.
I understand you're an old user with a reputation. But such rank requires a reasonable approach, and I see that everyone is driven not by logic or common initiative, but by their own interest.
I dug around a bit and I know why. Three concrete things, each public in this thread, anyone can verify:

A year ago, March 8, 2025, mcdouglasx wrote to you exactly the same thing you write to me today. That your responses sound like they're generated by AI. The same accusation.
You have your own tool, "fast CUDA-based kangaroo runner (not JLP)" (your own words, June 2024 and January 2025), which you've been working on for two years, waiting for the RTX 5090.
On November 1, 2024 you launched your own ECDLP challenge at address 1ECDLP8osCZHBB1LH5PVAUfFegeMgFb52q. Vanity prefix "ECDLP". You yourself organize these kinds of challenges. You made another puzzle and you are building code for it, and the naive ones will pay to solve it. You decided to use the BTC Puzzle approach and earn on it the same way, by brute force, giving them tools and probably GPUs too. That's my own opinion, I read between the lines.

Before you attack someone again, think that the one being attacked may be smarter than you. Which is what I'm showing you right now.
And you actually gave me food for thought. Because I consider the puzzle creator a genius, someone who put it all together, as I wrote before. I ran so many analyses, including one showing that the creator was already tinkering with an uncompressed address before. Including that I thought he wanted to pay tribute to Satoshi, because the hours tell me a lot. I analyzed everything I could and approached it logically. The same way I approached your response, which says more than you wrote.
Maybe I really think and analyze too much. And the creator may actually be a person of your type, who currently earns from selling GPU servers or cloud-hash services.
None of you even checked the nx or yxy cubes, whether they look nice. Maybe that's also random coincidence. Well, alright, let's leave my months of research for the brute force tools, and let's accept the creator historically as someone who really didn't think about the puzzle, and just put it together out of his ass, randomly, so people could use GPUs and make money on it.
Think one more time about my farewell and analyze this sentence. Could someone who built a puzzle with so many common threads, perfect bit lengths, someone who knew how the baskets line up without leading zeros in the ranges, who built position IDs corresponding to bits, whose first payments were perfectly proportional, could THAT person be a guy who generated random keys but made an ideal wrapping around them?
And one more important thing. If the creator stays silent while knowing this is NOT random, he exposes the whole world to costs. Thousands of people burning money on GPUs, cloud-hash, electricity, time. Everyone making financial decisions based on information that he ALONE can confirm or deny. If it really is random, then he exposes only us, those who search structurally. That's fewer people, but still a concrete harm. In both cases, the creator's silence has a price. One day this puzzle will be solved one way or another, and those who were misled will speak up. It's a question of when, not if.
And since this is about that kind of money, maybe someone here will finally prove that this is really a deterministic wallet? Supposedly a puzzle, but misleading people is one thing, and dropping hints between the lines is another. What do you all think about that? Creator, if you're reading this, define yourself concretely. Is this really random, or do you have a scheme? The whole world is searching and burning money because they read your descriptions ambiguously. Maybe it's time to speak out clearly, so that you have proof on your side, in case someone one day decides to prove that you misled people, or that you are earning from them. A puzzle must have defined, concrete features. Does it currently have them, or are they misleading? Are you about to delete it and run? Prove your credibility once and for all, and describe the scheme of the puzzle, properly, so that we don't keep wasting time searching through your few short messages from years ago.
Show us already. Did you build this puzzle to show off your intelligence, and simply nobody over the years has grown up to your level of thinking? Or is this really brute force, and you're a businessman who invented a nice little scheme to make money? Because we can see your idea is already being copied by our user who attacked me here. Only it didn't pay off for him, because he also did it mindlessly.

Very true good sir. The higher the ranges, the more difficult the task. It has reached a point where you either pump in a ridiculous amount of resources to try and secure the bounty or simply rely on plain old luck.

internet remembers anyway, and I keep my own copies of every deleted
reply. They are not lost, they are just not visible to you right now.
I hope nobody is waiting for me to make some small mistake just to ban
my account completely. If that happened, it would only prove broader

A clarification about my motivation, since some of you assumed I'm here
for all the BTC from the puzzle. I'm not. The puzzle prize stopped
interesting me the moment I entered this thread and saw what is going
on. That is what became my main subject of analysis. What now interests
me is the STRUCTURE. Of the puzzle itself, and of the ecosystem built
around it. Two years of research, hundreds of scripts, a book in
progress. None of that was for the prize. It was out of respect for the
creator, who built something that generates millions of dollars around
the attempt to solve this puzzle.

If anyone actually wants to talk about any of this, the technical side
of the puzzle, the structural patterns I see, or the dynamics of the
ecosystem, my PM is open. I'm happy to talk privately and seriously.
Public flame doesn't interest me, especially since it is, as you can
see, controlled here. The pattern I described above shows that what
gets posted in reply to me starts disappearing, and you have no idea
what is going on. If the forum does not allow it, I suggest alternative

even if they remove me from this place for inconvenient truth. Some
people see that this is how the world works.

To the creator, if you are reading this through any account, my offer

puzzle 71 is toooo hard to be solved , i scanned more than 4million ranges and more than 1.6e+16 keys and still feels too far from solving it , i don't have more power to continue , i'm so desperate.

There is NO pattern. And NO, a lack of a pattern is not in itself, a pattern. Either solve it deterministically or randomly by pure astronomical luck.  

Someone WILL solve #72 and it won't be because of some hidden pattern or some hidden message the creator said (or didn't say) in his two forum posts.

Just divide into subranges, rent GPU's and iterate. Can't afford it? Then go full random.

I got a chance to talk about this topic because I have been looking for the Bitcoin private key for many days. I tried to find many mathematical patterns in it and tried to understand how it was made. When I looked closely, the use of compounding is done quite well, and if we talk about the Bitcoin puzzle, the ranges in the Bitcoin puzzle are very large, in which compounding works very well. So the Bitcoin ranges are compounded. If we look at the structure of Bitcoin, it was created in 2015. In 2015, almost the entire world wide in Practically speaking, about 20% of people knew about compounding, and 5% of them knew how to use it. So one of those 5% of people created this Bitcoin puzzle. Because compounding itself is a wonder. While compounding, the range becomes so large that there is no limit to it. This kind of method can only be used by an educated person. So the chances of randomness in this, in my opinion, are about 30% random, and 70% there is some pattern in it. We have solved sequence-wise puzzles from 1 to 70 so far. This means that we can find the pattern in this, we can understand the patterns, and we can intelligently apply these patterns to the next unsolved puzzle.
