I had also received this email yesterday and am glad I deleted it, not sure if a phishing scam or not.
They said they do this every year, but I don't remember receiving it last year or the year before that.
I am also a member there let me also check it, but i will also delete it like you if there is any. Phising site and malware link are obvious in email.

I hope it's really a spam email from someone who tried to use the name coinbase to do things that are not good, because I look at your post, there is a difference between the second email. support@coinbase.com and contact@coinbase.comThe second email was different.

Is it possible that Coinbase are collecting emails in their database while serving as payment processor for other business (or charity donations)? Just checked BTC donations to Wikimedia, and the screen for personal details (incl. email address) is hosted by Coinbase.

Looks like a phishing scam. Whenever I get emails like these, I never click on any links. Hopefully you haven't done this either. Thanks for bringing this up to the community though. It let's some of us be more alert on these things.

i doubt a serious company like coinbase would end an email in this way "Thank you for using Coinbase!"
seems a childish ending, usually they end it with regards or whatever, and yes that thing is 100% pishing

OP said, he did not sign up for their service... why are you still insinuating that he did? How secure are your email address? I have some fake addresses and I set some honey traps and they have been hacked 3 times already. It could be that someone else hacked your email address and signed up for the "signup bonus" when it was on offer. Just check with Coinbase on the particulars of your account linked to your email address and find out who signed up and when. If they do not respond to this request, then it is possibly a phishing attempt.

Bruno i think the other poster's theory has gotta be correct, you signed up to get free coins years ago and forgot.
I've never signed up for any free coins on any site, and I have no other emails from Coinbase until recently after searching my emails in this particular email account that has sparse bitcoin related mailings.

Weird indeed. Seems legit right but you say you never used them ? hmm maybe coinbase can verify things ? email them & ask ?
I never used them either or ever gotten an email form them.
You think there was some in the past that got flagged for spam etc ? I get some that bypass my inbox and are auto deleted by Microsoft's spam criteria (not of my choosing)
I bet Coinbase made a mistake and sent you one but WHY ? How did they get it then ? They should be able to shed light on this either way.. think about it.. EMAIL THEM !
Coinbase trying to hack the Gamow ? Ohhh snap.. oh no you didn't ! They be begging for the FULL Bruno me thinks ..duck & cover Coinbase (hide under your bed maybe)

I got this email as well. Twice actually, once on an email I have registered with them, and one on an email I don't have registered with them. This is indeed very strange.

At least I'm not the only one that sees they're using an email list sourced from somewhere else. Wait one Goddamn minute! I just realized that the email account was used when I was corresponding with BFL when they sent me a bogus tax form last year. BFL put all my vitals on their servers that I did not provide them. Somehow your post triggered that truism in spite of having the info stare me in the face the other day upon searching archived emails, not making the connection expressed above.

Don't go for such emails as these may either be phishing attack trials or might be someone trying to scam you with their name either, or it may be them too trying to get something from you (no exchange can be trusted these days, so who knows!?!?!)...
