It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Maybe  small news, but previously China has baned Union Pay.

I think sooner or later china will fully ban Bitcoin because the goverment will get pissed off at smart people finding a workaround for their capital control policies, but this will only drive the price higher as seen by other attempts to ban it.

There are more than 1.3 billion people in China and I doubt that even 0.01% of them are using bitcoin. I think it could be quite the opposite as Chinese government might lift the restrictions previously put on bitcoin.
And I see first step right here - Chinese Union Pay is not available. Will this be hope for better bitcoin laws?

Unless there is someone here who've worked or lived in China I don't think we don't know just how Bitcoin is a risk or something useful. Hopefully Uphold can work and start introducing BTC to more chinese people but I doubt the government will make that easy.

This is wrong. That way they risk being behind the other big forces if Bitcoin does take off. Eventually they are going to lift everything and endorse Bitcoin (and properly regulate it).

There is a huge opportunity for Bitcoin in China. A single event could trigger huge growth of the user base.

We have seen chinese exchanger pumping the price on early november last year. After introduction of direct buy and sell through unionpay we may see another pump. I think chinese exchanger will make a dramatic event before and after halving.

Nothing new from this nook of the Earth. A typical move of China. A little step which verify perfectly the mentality of Chinese Governments. The famous opportunism of them which has brought China in the level which is today. Calculate perfectly what is needed and not in a given moment and act. Redoing the calculation in the needed time when needed to go forward. If needed to go ahead step ahead. If needed to go back, go back. And so again, and again. Nothing news from China can seems strange for me. Can be waited totally everything.

I think that this is good news.  it is helping move forward with Bitcoin and it will show others that it is a good idea to move forward also.  A lot of large companies pick up on small things China does then makes them large before China gets the whole way opened, maybe this will be one of those times.

This is very important, although not great news, but it shows that China is really serious with bitcoin, after they managed to influence prices in the past year, whether this year they will also do the same thing?

I think this new Chinese exchange service will support more the Bitcoin's crypto currency as advertising to the Chinese community more and more, and it's as known a big community and that's may help a lot to advertise Bitcoin worldwide

I agree that this is massive news, but the question is whether or not they are working with any other country.  There are a number of countries who are in debt to China and them controlling something like this could put them into more control of the world as we know it.  I have nothing against China, but I enjoy my freedom and them controlling the next global currency scares me.

If China government wanted to use Bitcoin somehow, then they will be able to buy all the Bitcoin available in a second. So I doubt they have these sort of ambitious plans. So let's just hope they don't ban Uphold and Bitcoin can slowly infiltrate the country hehe.

this will only increase the price so high, that it will cause a massive dump, making their government lose a tons of money

don't think that they cna actually buy all ther coins available for the same price you are seeing on preev, because their demand will increase dramatically the value

If the chinese government would really try to buy all coins in circulation in a hurry I swear you the price would skyrocket!!
So this would be the dunbest the government could do.
If they should be really interested in buying they would do it quiet and stealthy.
