Hey all.
So, every morning at exactly 6AM, my two S3s and two S5s lose connection to the pool and do their stupid shrieking noise, which is very hard to sleep through. Usually I get up and shut them down until I actually wake up, and then I turn them back on. They then proceed to run fine until 6 the next morning.
I've tried different routers, different PSUs, etc. I took the miners to a friends house where they ran for 5 days straight with no problem at all. I've called my ISP and my power company, and no one can tell me why this is happening. I'm looking into scheduled tasks for the S3s, but the S5s have no such option available, at least that I know of. If anyone here has any suggestions, I'd rather fix the problem than slap a band-aid on it. BUT...
If I were to use one of the timers commonly seen on space heaters and Christmas lights to kill power to the PSUs at, say, 5:30AM and then start them back up at 6:30AM, would this damage the PSUs? I've always been under the impression that toggling the switch on PSUs is a bad thing to do, and this would be essentially the same thing. I've heard of people doing this, but I also don't want to cook my machines.
Thanks in advance for the help!
I would check your connection coming to house. I have a box outside with connectors I had to retighten down and eliminated the problem. Also, verify your router and modem are good to go. Might have to replace one or depending on the location, maybe they run too hot? Some people hide there routers and modems in their entertainment cubbies or computer desks, leading to overheating.
