Im sure this is answered somewhere but my search-foo must suck..

I just installed Mycelium 2.5.9 onto my note 4. I have BIP38 encrypted paper wallets. what I would like to do is transfer the whole balance from one of these paper wallets to Mycelium, and from there most (or all) to my main hot wallet.

so do I just select Cold Storage Spending, scan the QR code, enter the password, and enter an addy to send it to? or does it just import it into Mycelium. where does change go if its not the whole amount? I rather not keep that paper wallet addy with anything in it, Id just make a new one.

sorry for noob questions, Ive only run the official core wallet with a full node on my desktop.

Its been a while, but doesnt mycelium ask whether to "sweep" the funds? In that case the entire balance from the paperwallet would be send to a new address generated by mycelium. Thus the paper becomes worthless and all change will go to the phone wallet instead.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

This.

You have to enter the amount you want to spend. Select "Max" to get the behaviour you want.

thanks guys.

should of made some small amount paper wallets for testing new ways to redeem then instead of just ones with larger amounts.

Ill make a bunch of smaller paper wallets so in the future I can just experiment and not worry about getting that sinking feeling of "uh oh" if something goes into the weeds.

Mycelium has what is called "Cold Storage Spending" last time i scanned a QR code from a paper wallet and i do this a lot, it comes up asking how much to transfer. I just always select "max" and hit send.

I have often wondered what would happen if i didn't send all the funds having no change address but never wanted to try it.

I kinda gathered it would send change back to the paper wallet addy but I want to clean it out. once that paper wallets private key has been used its useless to me for storage anymore.

I have tested some of my BIP38 paper wallets before but this will be a 1st on my phone.
