I present to you a new Bitcoin "Big List" style site.

The Big List of Bitcoin

This site will be a great resource for new users starting out in Bitcoin to find reputable and trustworthy sites to use.

The site will be constantly updated, by me. This will be my long term project, it will stay up indefinitely.

research the link and you will find it linked from many sites...
if you do not list it, then do not claim to be THE resource for bitcoin related stuff.

It seems to be a dyndns service or redirector. Anyway my goal is to provide a resource for reputable sites. Having a permanent domain name would be one of the criteria I think.

Nice idea, but what criteria and who chooses?

So, just bought my first bitcoins today.  I was in a bit of a hurry to get them, and short on cash, so I didn't want to pay for or wait on a wire transfer.  I found https://www.bitcopia.com/.  I was a bit hesitant, due to the lack of reviews and feedback, but I figured it was worth a try.  It's entirely anonymous, cash-only transactions.  I needed 25btc, so I bought just a couple first.  Transaction went smooth, had my btc before I got home from the bank.  Second transaction was for the remainder of what I needed, and the block chain shows 2 confirmations of the transaction so far.  I'd say it looks legit.  I can see where people might be put off by the anonymous cash deposit only nature of the site, but so far, so good.  And, while I haven't seen a lot of testimonials, I haven't seen any negative reviews, either.  Might be one for the list.

Mt. Gox was hacked several times.

Bitfloor was hacked and lost everything.

MemoryDealers and Bitchain.info were implicated in the latest privacy breach issue.

Virwox, BTC-E, bitcoin.de and bitcoin-24 have been mentioned in threads of the "company" not doing their job several times.

Cryptostocks is a unregistered stock exchange destined to go the way of GLBSE real soon now.

Yes, but Mt.Gox and Bitfloor has stood behind their site and never made their customer lose money (some mtgox hacks were the fault of the customer losing their password, not mtgox's fault). They have learned from their mistake and made their site more secure, which is good.

Simply being complained against does make them not reputable. Even the most reputable companies has had complaints filed against them numerous times.

Cryptostocks will be gone or not, I can't predict. As of right now, it seems to be in good standing and growing popularity.

It will be solely determined by me, with my infinite knowledge and wisdom.  Grin Grin Grin Though I welcome any submission of sites for consideration and inclusion (I recommend using the submission form on the site so I know you are not spamming me)

I have reviewed the site and does not find it to be up to the quality standard of a reputable exchange. Though I will continue to monitor and will include it once it has improved in terms of quality/popularity.

TBLOB looks really cool! Nicely organized and very simple. Kinda like a bulletin board or something.

Found a cool site that you can add, probably under gambling: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=131788.0 / http://www.bittrivia.com/

Hi,

I guess my service would have to be under "Other"? Or maybe you could create a "File Sharing" category?
Here's my recent service announcement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133389.msg1420763#msg1420763

Thanks for your consideration!
