Is there a specific order that an upgrade from 1.9.8 to the Electrum latest version should be done in a cold storage implementation? Do I upgrade the offline system first or the online system? Or does it not matter?

I have the 1.98 wallet file backed up and I have the seed, so I'm assuming - based on what I've read - that I just install the new Electrum on each system.

Thanks

Don't go online with you offline computer.

Either find a way to upgrade while staying offline or create the offline computer from scratch and recreate the Wacker from seed once the computer is offline.

Do you really need to upgrade the cold one? As long as it can still sign transactions i dont really see the point?

Yes, you do. The old versions will create signatures that will not be relayed by the majority of the network nodes. AFAIK most of the electrum servers will also reject them. You can only change this behaviour by updating the offline wallet.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

A late update.

Did the offline/cold system first.

1. Made a copy of the existing Electrum folder
2. Installed the newer version of Electrum
3. After install, verified password was recognized and seed was the same

4. Did the same thing on the online/watching-only system
5. Went through the transaction process and successfully sent a small transaction

6. Did the same process with Electrum-LTC

Just curious, how do you verify if the seed is the same?

It's possible to check the seed by going to wallet => seed (you enter the password to be able to see the seed otherwise you can't).
