Ive ordered some antminer s7s and got the recommended power supplies but they are rated for higher voltage (from china) than standard usa outlets. What should I do? thanks

So you have

the antminer psu's coming in?

basically you need to hire an electrician to put in a 240 volt 30 amp line.

Is this feasible?

What Philip said or if you have an unused dryer outlet or any unused 240v outlet in your house. Possibly your garage?

Yes, antminer's psu's are coming. I would do the wiring myself but is that the only option? What about a transformer? Anyways, I'm mainly looking for a 110 PSU, such as a high end desktop PSU? (I would just sell antminer's psu's)

How many miners did you buy?  This gives us a good idea of amount of watt's.  The bitmain server PSU will not run on 110.   Who are you expecting to sell to on it?

But transformer ... no most likely it is breaker box and you would need to know how many amps you have, if you have enough extra for it.   With you mentioning transformer I might suggest calling a electrician.

You can use the lepa 1600w it's about $250 a pop
[/quote]

is that a reliable psu?, i would prefer the 1500w from corsair, and in any case you need oen psu per unit, there is no going around here, so having 100w more is useless

i believe that with some downvolting you can try with the 1200w from corsair, or 1250 from seasonic

I'm running my S7s with EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 80+ GOLD currently.  So far no problems - but you'll need to get 2 additional splitter cables (PCIEXSPLIT6).  There are more discussions about this on the forum here.

What batch do you have? Newest batches need more than 1300watts

I looked at Both and went with the lepa, it's running smooth

I don't like the idea of splitting PCIe cables at all that is a no go for me.  To spend so much on a miner then to do that seems like cutting corners.   The best thing to do is have 220/240 and be able to use server PSU's.

If your stuck on 110/120 I would go 1600 EVGA that is like 400 dollars or so... which is pricy.  I think if your serious really look into 220/240 in  all honesty if you are thinking of S7's.   Might look at Avalon 6's if your stuck on 110/120.

Pardon the retarded question: If a PSU is rated for, say, 1600W, it will still draw the antminer's rated power right? not 1600 always?

So, magically I remembered my dad installed a 240v outlet in our garage. I'm going to get a 240v cord which can handle the total amperage, only thing I need to figure out is if that outlet can deliver up to 3000W. Now I just have to extend ethernet to the garage.....

I would suggest asking your dad if he installed it.  I would suspect he knows if you have the amps to pull it off or not.  But finding that out is important.  Is this 240 connected to your main? Or is it a subpanal?

But that is your next step to look into it more.

I suggest you run a dedicated 20 Amp line with 10 guage wire. DO NOT run in a series line, but take it directly from a breaker in your panel and run it, because thats 3000W and if you use any lower guage, your asking for a fire.

No he did not install it himself, we had it installed when we built our house. I'm going to have to find out somehow what it can handle. Until I do I suspect I can at least get 1 of the miners running off of it. I'm scrambling to figure something out because my miners arrived and they are just sitting! I do not know if its to the main or a subpanel. Visually I just see a 4 prong outlet.

Hello,

Oh wish i have AntMiner S7  Sad You need transformer Before you connect AntMiner on electricity

Transformer is not really what you need.... it is more likely a breaker.   And it varies on each persons how many amps they have in main.    So some can handle a extra 220/240 no problem.  Others don't have the amps.
