I have been trying to set up the windows release of the Electrum client version 1.5.6 from the site, but the installer always displays an error. A link to a picture of it is below:

And I keep getting that if I hit ignore or retry (but for different files if I hit ignore). Ultimately nothing installs. What is the problem here? Is it with Electrum or my computer?
The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

OK, apparently the link to the image of the problem was "suspicious". No biggie. Here is what the error message says:

Quote
Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electrum\MSVCR90.dll

Then it gives the options of abort, retry, and ignore. Also, I realized Electrum was updated and tried with 1.5.7; this problem is still occurring. Is anybody else getting it? Does anybody know how to fix it?

Thanks for the error report. I've had another unspecific report on Windows 7 and I think this might be the same.

This appears to be an installer issue with redistributing the C libraries which need to be fixed.

Pointer for slush who is doing the builds:

For the time being (and as long as you like of course) please use the builds provided by flatfly linked on the download page as third party builds for Windows instead. It should work fine!
