Nuclear weapons are a hoax, the real weapon if there really is one is some kind of other technology like HAARP. All the world leaders are in bed with one another and the media lies about everything.

Be radical, have principles, be absolute, be that which the bourgeoisie calls an extremist: give yourself without counting or calculating, don't accept what they call ‘the reality of life' and act in such a way that you won't be accepted by that kind of ‘life', never abandon the principle of struggle.

They wouldn't lie, would they?

the media and government lie. why would the government let you know that this country that is still technically at war with its neighbor, and has a history of aggression, is close to completing nuclear technology for the purposes of weaponization? that'd just cause mass panic and calls for bombings on the country. although, its also possible that people just didnt know, with NK's whole 'no outsiders' thing. however, i doubt this was the case, as there was info to go off of, namely the three nuclear tests prior to this one. however, your thoughts arent all incorrect, based on the (theoretical) scale of the explosion created, its possible that the tech (in terms of weaponization for warfare) is incomplete in the sense that it cant be used for warfare. remember, this was just a test explosion, and the device was either constructed in a lab and moved to the test site, or built on the test site. all we know is that NK has successfully utilized fisson to create an explosion. i believe it took america around a decade or so to master nuclear tech for warfare iirc, and with far, far greater resources than NK has. its pretty definite NK has achieved fission, but its likely a far ways off from utilizing it for warfare, or even mastering the tech.

They just boast about themselves and trying to scare their neighbors in order to receive more respect and support from other countries. I don't believe much what N. Korea authorities say publicly. It's very cruel regime and if we help them, we just prolong agony for many people in this country.

North Korea's push to get modern fusion weapons is not in and of itself an offensive goal. What they are looking for is to get strong enough and show they are crazy enough to use them that when they move to re-invade South Korea to unify the country the rest of the world will pause and hesitate, allowing them to accomplish the goal with little resistance.

I saw the vice news episode on North Korea and it felt like a end of the days movie. North Koreans for over 50 years have been brainwashed and ideology is so insecure that any weapon can become a nightmare for the rest of the world.

What makes you think that the North Koreans will target only one American city? They might target multiple cities along the Pacific coast of the United States, such as Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego.etc. The only issue is that right now they don't have ballistic missiles capable of reaching that far. But they are making rapid improvements on that sector.

5.1 Richter is by no means the outcome of a fusion device. In fact it is a rather small(or defective) fission nuclear bomb or even a big but very possible amount of fertilizer explosives. According to some internet calculators you need about 700 tons of tnt for that or about 1000 tons of fertilizer. Hiroshima device would probably do something like a 6 richter earthquake. Btw richter scale is logarithmic. If they really wanted to show a fusion device that really worked they should have made an earthquake at least of a 6.6 magnitude and it would still be small but more credible. After 4 'tests' not everyone is really persuaded except mass media of course. This doesnt mean that it is not possible for North Korea to create a weapon. I say that it is not really that difficult. But fusion is another story and when they have announced before that they have mastered fusion for power generation, well, their story doesnt seem credible.
Now, the reality though is, that those "tests" are mostly propaganda tests. Do you really think they are that retarded to attack someone only for them to get extinct afterwards? North Korean's 'government' doesnt care about USA or South Korea at all. They have a huge passionate standing army and noone is crazy enough to do anything. And for what reason? What North Korea fears is internal revolution. So every time South Korea or USA or the rest of the world starts bullying them they simply propagandize how the rest of the world wants to invade them and occupy them (and if you know a bit of history Korean war was exactly that, so, well, they have a point there). With this they unite the citizens against the common external enemy and the 'government' continues to exist. So another provocation like this and worlds mass media frenzy that it creates only strengthens North Korea. This is a well known problem for USA. Cause every time USA is getting aggressive they tend to unite and every time they let them be then North Koreans have to be aggressive in order for USA to provoke them once again. Its a nice game.
BTW all the bullshit and stupidity mass media propagates in the west creates fear for now reason at all. But it helps attract the public eye from other more serious problems like for example the new Iran-Saudi Arabia affair... The only people that have to worry are North Korean citizens because either way they are fucked and South Korea because even in the best outcome of what happens with North Korea they will have to get through some dangerous years.
That is my understanding and by no means i am an expert.

Even Russia got out with a a statement that they are feeling worried, even they are semi-supporting the regime there. Because they share a border with North Korea.

I read this somewhere else, and the thing was that even though a 5.1 is not a high-yield bomb, the type of detonation sequence they use is easily scale able, regardless of how much fissile material is used during tests.
If they use 2 pounds of material for multiple tests, they can scale the amount of material for their actual weapons to 10 pounds of material (I don't do nuclear weapons so I am not sure the appropriate measurements), as long as they scale everything along with it.
I've also read that China intends on keeping the DRPK under control, and that both China and the US might intervene as allies if they start getting a bit too crazy, but that might just be me.

exactly. theoretically, there is no upper limit to the power of a fission induced explosion. now that they can induce an explosion, its safe to assume that they will develop the tech to scale it into larger explosions, as well as the delivery systems to successfully complete a nuclear missile. however, it took the US a decade(ish) to do this, and hopefully it takes NK a lot longer given their limited resources.
