Innovating financial services is not an easy task to accomplish, as there are quite a few hurdles to overcome.  Perhaps the biggest challenge is coming up with an idea that is not only innovative but could also lead to mass adoption by everyday consumers.

To add to that, I would say a thick skin is needed to deal with regulators.
Compliance can be one of the biggest challenges for finance / fintech companies.
