I hate to break it to ya but i fear your screwed if you have forgotten your password...... trying every password you have ever used is prob your only chance, other than some sort of brute force software. unfortuanatly that is as far as i can go man. best of luck with it

found this post this morning might be useful: also here are the original requirments: greater than or equal to 8 chars, at least one of of each: uppercase, lowercase, number, symbol; no inclusion of strings from a dictionary of most frequently used passwords Hi guys. Here are the standard steps that we offer from helpdesk on password recovery: If you need help jogging your memory, you can visit our old sale site at: https://stage.ethereum.org -- this sometimes helps if you have a standard algorithm that you use for generating passwords without a password generator. For brute-force password recovery, you can try using https://github.com/burjorjee/pyethrecover (requires Python and the bitcoin package from python-pip). If you know at least part of your password, you can use this program to automate the testing of permutations of your known password characters (just add them all to a text file). The forked version of pyethrecover (linked above) does offer some options for generating permutations around known blocks of your password; try that tool. We don't yet have a tool that will generate a dictionary list of possible password combinations; I'll look around for something useful.

If this request is legitimate then you are probably out of luck. Always encrypt and back up your passwords someplace safe!

So me asking help to retrieve my ethereum coins i bought from pre-sale long time ago suddenly becomes the topic of thievery? i mean... i been here long enough, just been away for nearly a year but do not accuse me of such silliness.
I do not even know how it can be stolen? If someone has my .json file then im screwed but this is the crypto world... the other person owns it now.
But i have proof of purchase anyways but why bother showing. If someone truly can help me retrieve this or help me think back during the pre sale , i will show you my email confirmation and what ever else.

During the password phase on the pre sale... did they randomly generate a PW for us or did we get the chance to chose our own PW?
