So, the price of oil has been in dragging in the mud for weeks.... there is a huge glut of oil around the world.  The US stock markets have just been dumping, China pulled the trading plug today because it was falling too much, too fast. China has said that Tomorrow, they will let if go without intervening which means the whole world will take a hit.

I see that BTC had a sell off a week or so ago and it has been steadily climbing back. It looks like today BTC took a jump up. Coincidence or correlated event?

The last time the stock markets around the world took a massive dump was in 2008. BTC was INVENTED in 2008... so really, there is no data to reference from a world wide market crash to what can happen to BTC. Sure, there have been some stock market corrections... sometimes BTC goes up, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes BTC goes down.... in those corrections.

What do you think will happen?

Do you think this crash will be a test of BTC to be a world wide currency?

Looking back at trends Bitcoin will most likely rise, not sure if it will be significant but it should climb.  Hang Seng is off 3.09% right now.

There's no real way of knowing. It could go either way. People might continue to pile in or if it dawns on them that the wider markets really are going down the toilets in a dedicated fashion they might run to cash. It could be the making of Bitcoin or something rather less inspiring.

We have seen today that the price of bitcoin is starting to climb again. When people stat dumping shares they normally want to invest it somewhere else, bitcoin is more than likely a good place to invest until markets recover so we should see more of a rise in the coming months.

Goddamn it!!!  Every time the markets crash I'm stuck without cash to buy any stocks with.  I think I'm going to start putting some aside and stop buying bitcoin for a while, because I suspect the stock market is going to drop a lot more before we see the end of this.  It was down again today, and if this keeps going we're going to have a bleak 2016--but stocks will be cheaper!

Don't know about bitcoin, though.  Has anyone actually done any econometrics with it, e.g., figured out how it moves with relation to the stock market or bond market or any others?  I'd be very curious.

Why would you buy stocks when they are crashing? Way to catch a falling knife to be honest. It's just best to stay all in on Bitcoin, what tells you that when you buy those stocks which looks like a good buy, they will not continue falling?

The drop this week is approaching a correction. There are no signals yet that a bear market will ensue. The failed attempt of a "circuit breaker" was the cause of the route today. The U.S. markets will end the week on a strong note.

I'm not a trader, that's why.  Meaning I don't sell stocks very often--I would consider myself an investor and not a speculator.  So when good quality stocks are dropping (or have dropped to whatever you think the bottom is), it's time to buy.  You know that phrase "buy low, sell high"?  Well, you have to have the balls to buy low and hold, even if what you bought goes lower first.  That "falling knife" concept mostly applies to heavy traders.  That's how I see it anyway.

Bitcoin is total speculation to me though, and I'm not comfortable keeping a huge amount of money in it because there's no good way to analyze what the price should be.  And it's notoriously volatile.

With this bad news for stock markets and low oil prices, the traders prefer increasing its investing on Gold. And some users that donnt see the stocks as a good opportunity of invest are buying bitcoins.

It's so annoying to see fear-mongering posts.

Stock markets are not crashing, they are sliding down. NOT crashing.
Fact is, it is a good time to buy stocks because when they drop they will most certainly go back up.
I see this as a opportunity to buy stocks. In fact I did the same thing in 09 when stocks were crashing. I then sold them for a pretty penny.

Probably decrease, lmao.

Joking aside, I'm hopeful for an increase. I remember a few months ago when there was a downward spike on the stock market and BTC literally did nothing. Considering this on a global scale, I'm confident in a healthy increase.

That's what I said a couple posts above.  Everyone wants to buy stocks or whatever other asset class when prices are high or rising, and that's usually the wrong time to buy.  I unfortunately only got to buy a small amount of stock in '09, and I definitely saw the opportunity there.

it's much safer to buy gold and to trade it like you do with BTC. The gold brokers are licensed, it's a regulated market . Be sure you won't have exchangers like BTC-e or Bitfinex(shady ones).

BTC shooting up i see on the Wiz for BTCe.
A week ago i looked.. it's now from $428 shooting up super fast past $450

Off hand ya i bet it will help boost BTC price but will it stay that way or eventually drop back down ?
Eventually i think it will settle back down and the price will drop back to where it was.
Price spike is not from natural growth of Bitcoin..
The price going up right now is the effect of market maniupulators who want to make a buck.
So it's doomed to be dumped later and drop back down in price.

FUD first & ask questions later™
