Getting started with Bitcoin

Hi all,

I have just started with bitcoin and I have some questions.

1. I have an ATI Radeon 3000 card, bit old. Bitminer is asking me for openCL. Where can I get it from? I have already installed the latest drivers. Does bitminer have a list of supported graphics cards?

2. FPGA's can be used to mine bitcoins. What FPGA board/project is suitable for bitminer. Where can I get moire information on how to get an FPGA compatoble with bitminer and its performance. I have some experience with FPGA's and it would be interesting to go down this road.

Any ore tips would appreciated.

Only Radeon 4000 series and above have OpenCL support (4000 cards have poor OpenCL performance).

GPU and FPGA mining are in their end. In 1-2 months we will have ASICs (search for BFL, bASIC, Avalon, deepbit's Reclaimer, etc.) - they will be at least 10-20 times more efficient. When they hit, other mining ways will be unprofitable.

Thanks for your help. I have seen some custom ASIC hardware. Could Bitforca Jalapeno be a good choice. It had a good entry price.

"could" be a good entry level device at 4.5Gh, but when competing with 60 -72Gh and 1500Ghash devices it will be insignificant
