If i had that much unless i was using it for trading and needed instant access to it, i would have it tucked away in a paper wallet or some sort of hardware wallet. 10btc to me is a lot to have in one wallet, especially blockchain.

Why don't you save it on your desktop wallet, and with the number of bitcoin as much as 10 btc i think you should divide it into several parts with a small amount in the different wallet include in blockchain.info but it is just only my opinion the real decision is up to you

A blockchain wallet offers several levels of security that make it about as safe as a desktop wallet. Unless your computer to be infected in some way it's pretty hard if not impossible to get inside. Now it's about your own personnal wealth: if 10 BTC is all your life's savings then you might want to be more careful. Some more security wouldn't be too much. Now if it's only part of your wealth and you want to have it ready to be used for any reason, then I'd say a blockchain wallet is a good compromise between security and easiness of access. Probably one of the best if not the best, actually.

I would think it would be safe there but I prefer to split mine up so if I do end up losing some it is not all. A paper wallet could be a idea to have some safely secured. I know that gives me piece of mind.

the coins safety would depend on what you do imo. if you keep your computer safe from viruses and RATs and stuff from the internet, you should be fine. but just to be safe i recommend just sticking to a paper wallet honestly.

If want to keep that coins for long term than i would like to suggest you better move these into hardware wallet or put them all into a paper wallet, if you want to use to for daily and instant access than blockchain.info wallet is secure.

NO, its not safe at all. I don't care what others tell you here, its absolutely nuts to even think of keeping that much BTC there. Web wallets should only be used when you have no other option and even then it should be used to keep very small amounts, I'd say less than half a bitcoin.

No it isn't as it looks but there are different percentage of risk involved like for instance if you haven't shared your address to anybody or any forum then its a bit more safe but still there's a risk and it would be better to not keep more than 0.3 Bitcoin at a time in a online wallet and keep the others on the hardware wallet of your choice.

How much would you keep in your leather wallet if you were going to that really bad neighbourhood Close to you? That's how much I would trust blockchain.info. There are literally 100s of better, safer or more secure options. Don't be left holding an empty wallet.

Online wallets aren't very safe, and 10 bitcoins is an important amount of money. If you don't have to use in few days or weeks, its better to store them on a cold wallet.

Why take more risk than necessary? The beauty of Bitcoin is that you can be absolutely secure, by moving your coins to cold storage. Use an electrum (or any other cold storage wallet). Keep only coins which you use daily in a live wallet.

I think many ppl have given you the answers. I just want to say electrum is spv wallet, not cold wallet. You have to trust third party to save and process the money. Off course paper wallet (cold wallet) is most secure and cheapest way to keep btc. Another good option is hard wallet, but it costs you some money.

Web wallets should only be used when you have no other option and even then it should be used to keep very small amounts, I'd say less than half a bitcoin. IMO the clearest explanation of why you should NOT keep large amounts of BTC at blockchain.info. I would go along with that amount (half a BTC or less), unless you own a lot and can afford a loss. Your PC can keep BTC in a wallet (MultiBit) or you can get a hardware wallet (I have and like both the Trezor and the Ledger Nano). Member litecoinguy has a great thread on hardware wallets.

just as safe as keeping the bitcoin in your bank. you could do that but what would be the point? bitcoin is meant to be in sole control by its owner and not a third party. that is where it's magic comes from.

You should read the post above yours about blockchain. Blockchain is no better than any other wallet and the worst bitcoin wallet since it has been reported many times that it can be easily hacked. It is much better if you control your own wallet instead of using a 3rd party web wallet provider

There isn't any problem using blockchain as other web wallets for only 0.01 btc (if its hacked you only will loose 0.01 btc, i supose that you can afford this loose). But i recomend not using it to save 20 btc, its a large amount of money. Online wallets or exchanges can be hacked, and you could loose your bitcoins. You can ask your friends about hardware wallets, or paper wallets.

If you talking about online wallet it's totally wrong place stored big money and not safe. Online wallet is a dangerous place to store big amount bitcoin. Because some plugin on your browser have a malicious ware that designed to steal all your online data. Never stored your coins online unless for small only.

I only use blockchain.info as pass-through-wallet.
I've long since moved to blocktrail.com as hotwallet and use electrum as cold storage.
To answer your question, I'd never hold more than 0.10 btc in blockchain.info or more than 1 btc in a decent hot wallet

There could be worries in everything, even the disk's can collapse if you are unlucky.I have seen people storing 200+ coins on blockchain wallet but i myself haven't used it for long term or as a cold storage.I don't think keeping 10 bitcoins will be problematic unless you lose the password.

Why would you hold that much on an online wallet?
If you're not going to use it and it's just going to sit there, it's best to take it off from there
Transfer it over to a safer place like a desktop or trezor.

I would not dare it. Buy a trezor or even better sent them to your own wallet and make sure you have a difficult password to encrypt your wallet.
Having it stored online, is just waiting for problems.

Personally I feel safe with blockchain.info wallet and actually I store most of my coins right now there (its not more than 10 btc and not even close to it though ). I think it is safe as long as you back up your wallet and keep the private key of the addresses. Also stay vigilant with the phishing links and malwares spreading on the net to be more secure.

I don't know why so many are recommending blockchain .info. There were all kinds of problems last year. I'm sure a forum search would bring them all up. It's ok for noobs getting started with a small amount of bitcoin but not for safely storing 10.
The best bet would be a spare computer, freshly formatted. Install Electrum and transfer the coins to it. Keep the machine off line except for the occasional sync. Or ... like others have mentioned ... a hardware wallet.

If you are really looking to store your btc for over 10 btc then use a cold wallet instead unless you are planning to regularly spend that 10 btc back and forth then use hot wallet instead but obviously dont use blockchain.info but rather a desktop wallet

The users that think that blockchain.info wallets are very sure, need to search on the forum or on google about how many times it was hacked. If you use a wallet that store your private keys online, you need to know that if someone hack the site, your private keys that are stored on the website could be stolen.

I know I already posted my 2 cents but here's some proof of how crappy blockchain.info really is. I purchased BTC0.05 with fiat, sent a small amount then got 'hacked' in under 48h (without a compromised system... Strange). 1NYC44qh8d5fy6sVMi14KUT7yyvxrtE6as https://blockchain.info/tx/963207024c45ba09e6bdf95876e38ea4e6f22d0ca740c0d9d822553faa6a69c6I lost BTC0.05. How much are you willing to lose? That's how much you should keep in your wallet.
