That's a big risk that you are planning to take since mail or package can get lost along transit, although it's not illegal do so. Why not use money order if that's available in your area.

I have a regular seller I buy from and he suggests cash in mail. Just wondering if anyone have any experience on this?

It depends on what you want most from the transaction. Since you did not mention your whereabouts, I'm going to assume you're American (because Americans often don't think to mention where they are). And that the recipient is in the USA as well.

If speed is the top priority, send USPS "Priority Mail Express." It will arrive in 2 days to all locations in the USA (usually 24 hours to most locations). There is tracking at every stop. You can check a box on the Express Mail form that requires the recipient to sign for the envelope, but that is waived by default. Make sure they will be around when the Postal worker comes by to deliver their mail or they won't get it if they have to sign for it. It costs about $20.

If you want tracking but want it relatively cheap and fast, send it by Priority Mail. It's about $6, has tracking, and will usually arrive in 2-4 or 5 days.

If you absolutely cannot afford for the envelope to get lost in the mail or the contents stolen no matter how long it takes, use USPS Registered Mail. It's insured up to $25,000 and has chain of custody and is signed for by every person it is handed off to. It is somewhat expensive (~$13) and takes up to 2 weeks for delivery.

USPS mail has a much lower chance of being opened by unauthorized people and having its contents stolen than do parcels sent by couriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.).

I think that is probably not the best idea as there is a good chance your money will never get to its destination.  Depending on how much you are talking about you could use a bitcoin atm to purchase bitcoin that accepts cash payments, this would depend on whether the is one near you.

I send cash money from Canada to the USA every month. 

I wrap up the cash in 2 thin layers of old newspaper. So if someone holds it up to a lamp or light they won't see it's money. 

Put a stamp on it and drop it in the mailbox. 

I've never had a problem.

Try other ways like bank transfer, Money Orders, gift cards or face to face meeting.

1. Sending Cash via mail is illegal.
2. It may not reach the destination.
3. Even if the receiver may scam you.

Be careful if you would like to do after you're aware of these things. Try with the money you afford to loose only.

No, there is not a good chance the money won't get to the destination.  I rarely say this about a gov't organization but I totally trust delivery by USPS.  I've used Ebay for quite a few years now, and I can't even remember if I've had something get lost in the mail.  OP, I don't think you should do exactly this, but if you put it in an envelope and sent it 1st class it'd more than likely get there.  I would go with what that member posted here, which is to send it via Registered Mail.

First of all contact him to join LocalBitcoins.com and create a trade request so that his bitcoins remain in their escrow.

Secondly, to avoid cash being detected or stolen in the mail, be smart. Do not just throw cash in an envelope! Make sure the envelope isn't too thick. Use the largest denomination of bill possible. ($500 = 5 x $100 bill etc) Up to 8 bills will fit into a #10 envelope along with a couple sheets of printer paper. A larger amount of bills should be placed in a bubble mailer or a flat rate box. Include a note in the package indicating the Localbitcoin reference number/message for the trade.

When your mail arrives the destination, tell him beforehand to take a video of opening the package and counting/verifying the cash. This will be proof of how much cash is received.

You can also make a video proof of packing the cash before sending as this will be the vital proof to show Localbitcoins if the seller does not release escrow after receiving cash.

And always use registered mail with tracking as well as signature of consignee upon delivery. Best ones are USPS Elite/Priority and UPS Express.

You could walk up to the nearest dealer and have a face to face trade.Sending cash in the mail is quite shady and you will definitely be traced.If you have Money Order as an option in your post service you can use that but they do want a significant reason for sending money to the trustee.

Too risky to try really. if your courier can be trusted unlike what we have here in our country, it must be fine if you had to. but i suggest using western union or just wire it.

This is illegal in our country and most package courier inspect what is inside. they're very suspicious sometimes i'm tempted to put antrax to those packages i send.

Why don't you just use Western union or Bank transfers
Sending money inside a package is really risky and the courier can steal that money away from you
But if you really insist you can try to send checks instead, only that person can redeem the money that way

I have received cash in mail with no issues. It was sent USPS Priority. Wrapped so that even if the envelope was torn in sorting machine, it would not be obvious there was cash inside.

i get those from my country, if the amount surpass a certain level, your cash can be confiscated because they go against the money laundering thing

they need to know from where those money come from, "they" is fiscal agent/fiscal police
