Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Well, since I can't stand Reddit I could care less what he's doing over there.  He doesn't micromanage this place, or at least I haven't noticed that.  In fact, most of the mods here seem to take a kind of laissez-faire kind of approach and I like that.

Here we go again; technically he's not really abusing his position. He is moderating the subreddit the way he thinks is right. Some people say implementations such as XT are not altcoins, but some say they are programmed altcoins like theymos. One could argue that he is censoring stuff on reddit but that is debatable. As far as moderation on this forum is concerned, there was never any censorship (deleting threads = censorship; moving them = moderation).

He's right though. Satoshi on diversity:

A second version would be a massive development and maintenance hassle for me. It's hard enough maintaining backward compatibility while upgrading the network without a second version locking things in. If the second version screwed up, the user experience would reflect badly on both, although it would at least reinforce to users the importance of staying with the official version. If someone was getting ready to fork a second version, I would have to air a lot of disclaimers about the risks of using a minority version. This is a design where the majority version wins if there's any disagreement, and that can be pretty ugly for the minority version and I'd rather not go into it, and I don't have to as long as there's only one version.

I don't believe a second, compatible implementation of Bitcoin will ever be a good idea.

When you start spamming the dox or post it solely to troll someone (in this case theymos) what do you think is going to happen? That kind of spam was quite annoying, thus we dealt with it.

Ok but what about other people's? You didnt answer that half Wink

I can see moderation being acceptable on forums such as this, but the way reddit is set up (with voting) there shouldnt be a need for one absolute power.  It goes against some of the main principles bitcoin tries to stand up against...

DOX is allowed because it is a collection of publicly available information. If the reason behind posting someone elses DOX is just to troll the person, then it is most likely going to be removed. If you spam the same DOX in a lot of places/via multiple accounts then it will most likely be removed and you would be punished.

Because bitcoin is what he says it is, any other proposals for scaling bitcoin cannot be discussed under his domain and should be considered altcoins, because that's how a decentralized technology works.

Wrong. They aren't proposals, they are programmed altcoins. A proposal for example is SegWit while XT/BU/Classic are not proposals. You are being influenced by the very people that are trying to harm Bitcoin.

Gavin Andresen, Mike Hearn and Jeff Garzik are developing bitcoin pretty much since the beginning, why would they want to harm bitcoin? Where did you get that idea from?

Gavin possibly influenced by the CIA, Hearn by the banks and whatnot? Did you forget when Hearn was advocating for blacklists? I sure have not. Garzik seems okay for now. I could list many more reasons, but I'm not on my machine right now. There are many threads in this very forum, especially about Hearn (use the search function). Remember the following: Gavin:"20 mb blocks needed right now.".

Update: Made changes to OP.

agreed. Lauda, are you saying Gavin is in the CIA? Because that's kinda nutz.
No. I'm saying that he could be influenced by the CIA. Never have I stated that he is in the CIA.

so bloody what ?
If it was my site i'd do what ever the hell i want and make you all follow what ever rules i want.
don't like it go fuck yourself.. make your own site whiny bitches LOL

further more from what i *heard* is that the user was banned for SPAMMING the doxx info.
If that is true then yeah that breaks the no spam rule.
Funny how this is brought up lots but the spamming part is deliberately omitted each time  Roll Eyes

No idea why you guys think the Boss is obligated to follow the rules of peasants.

On the topic of Reddit i too agree i don't l care ..Reddit sucks so what ever.
And from what i have heard on theymos's stance on that issue i would have to agree with him.

Don't like it start your own Reddit or forum.

Maybe it was taking millions of dollars from reddit?

Quote
We can see that theymos setup an "ad campaign" collecting user funds on reddit saying "Bitcoins sent here will eventually be used for a

Reddit advertising campaign with the goal of promoting Bitcoin and /r/Bitcoin

Those addresses have received 7,602 BTC in total

reddit ads campaign address 16KaCJB7fVuT6hvA7wzgzVjAnHz28bNvvh final balance: ZERO

bitcointalk address 17RTTUAiiPqUTKtEggJPec8RxLMi2n9EZ9 final balance: $3.38

WHERE DID ALL THE MONEY GO?Huh?

Community logic: Let's not spend time improving Bitcoin but let's rather spend time speculating and trying to find dirt on theymos. A very useful fools errand! This reminds me of the time where someone filed a complaint for misuse of donated money (money that theymos can use for whatever purpose he wishes; note: situation on reddit is different).  Roll Eyes

why is it foolish to ask now ? they even lost the freedom of speech ? This is not a religion to have faith in the messenger. They can go to any levels to inquire as people are investing their time and money in bitcoin.

This reminds me of the time where someone filed a complaint for misuse of donated money (money that theymos can use for whatever purpose he wishes;)
of course not,the law wont say that (anywhere around the world) unless the amount of money involved is negligible.
