There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Hmm... How to say it... Only currency`s that will have some matter - will be strength of muscles, reaction speed, and only after that - brain power. Other values will be of limits for some period of time.

That's a good question. I'll look it up on Google News and get back to you once it happens.

No.  Without society, currency is worthless.  There would be no currency.

Women and gasoline would be currency, along with water and crossbow bolts.

If technology was readily available and small networks could be easily assembled, I don't see why Bitcoin would be completely lost.

The best way to prevent society from collapsing in the first place is to move it away from fiat currencies and central banks =)

I am assuming that by catastrophe, internet will also be lost. Which means this is a completely useless question since bitcoins together with all the other altcoins out there would clearly sees to exist and will be easily forgotten in a few years time after the said catastrophe. But, if you mean a catastrophe that exempts the internet usage, then I pretty much think that bitcoins would still have value since it will be the one that can be easily used to send value across the globe. It will be a good payment for labor and other things. But even so, in remote areas, I think that barter trading would be the most logical thing we can think of to happen.
