I think, ore-mine the first virtual bitcoin cloud mining site has finally collapsed. This site lasted more than I expected (about an year). Do not know whether they will start over again with a new domain or turn out to be another scam (they have a good track record considering the working model of their site).

Cannot say it is scam now, at least the admin has responded with "I will keep working for fixing the problems". I was not aware of their official BT thread, my mistake. Hope he will fix it, already one member threatened to end sector's life. He has locked the main thread. Lets see how it turns out.

EDIT: I just saw the negative trust reference, SSL certificate removal, so I guess it is indeed scam. BCS (bitcoin cloud services) was much more bigger than ore-mine, when it went under the scam radar, apart from whining (including me) users were not able to do anything. The same scenario here. This is one of the flaws of bitcoins, when you are dealing with an anonymous (not completely, partially) decentralized digital currency you can do whatever you want, law would not catch up with you (only if it is a big business like Mt.gox or cryptasy). Moral: Invest your bitcoins carefully, use a bit of common sense (not entire brain)

Does anyone remember when the New Year "mines" were supposed to payout? I should have took a screen shot, but I was assuming the site was going to go belly up before the payouts of those mines. I had a suspicion that the site was going to go "down" before those payouts were made. Too many sales back to back for the site seemed like a money grab.

When I first saw them, I had the same thought!
I wonder how many borrowers on the p2p lending sites are going to default now?

Had not seen it that way, but you are totally right. With those mines having such a high payout it was just like saying "ey, probably I will run away with the money because I will not be able to repay it". Good point, I will keep an eye open from now on for things like that.

Still waiting for official proof maybe we can put all together some money on the Sector guy. Reveal the real identity of sector and earn a reward paid by people here. Probably people like to hunt a scammer and people start talking when the price is high enough.

Investment based site are scam in the making from the first day. It is a ponzi system where early investors are paid using the money of new investors and when the incoming investments reach its peak and starts to lag, the operator grabs whatever he/she have collected and goes AWOL. It works everywhere and is a good business model in both real and virtual world. Everyone who joins complies with the risk involved.

It's down because of the owner, not any "governement seizures". The notice on the website is fake; the US gouvernement doesn't do stuff like this.

As quoting the user EcuaMobi:

Quote
I don't know why but it seems some people are still not sure whether that so called seizure is fake or not. Of course it's fake!

As I said yesterday here the seizure notice was using https. Of course the Government doesn't do that, they seize the domain, not the SSL certificates so they can't use https.

To make things worst the SSL certificate the seizure notice was using was granted on 10/05/2015. Even if for some crazy reason the Government would have decided to use SSL of course they would have used a new certificate issued in January.

I already left negative trust on OP's profile with this information but it seems only a few read it. And it seems definitely OP read it because he already modified that fake seizure site removing the SSL certificate and making it http instead of https. Fortunately I archived the SSL site here: https://archive.is/p5r8V Just in case here's an archive of the updated version without SSL: https://archive.is/NoITS

Here's a screenshot of the certificate used on the fake seizure notice as it was yesterday (about 13h ago):
http://imgur.com/a/v3lHu
I don't have the fingerprints of the SSL certification when the site was running normally but I could bet they're the same.

Basically, the owner is a scammer who shut down his own site and probably ran with the funds. He's even locked his own thread, not allowing for further discussion.
