How many addresses currently have value and what is the median value in a bitcoin address that currently has value associated with it?

This thread is a bit outdated, I think this source could be better (although not live-updated):

But it's worth to note that 1 address doesn't equal 1 person (bitcoin user).

How did you come up with this figure?

If anything, it looks like an arithmetic average, OP was asking for median (middle value in a set of data). If the source I posted above is correct, over 97% of addresses with balance contain less than BTC0.001, so median will be somewhere in this bracket (0-0.001).
